Already beat you. :p

I think this is a risk/reward decision, and a rather easy one at that.

What is the risk of him going back out in the 8th, in cold weather, at 92 pitches? Not absorbiantly high, but certainly not low either.

What is the reward? He throws a perfect game in his first start? Then what? He has to live up to that performance every time he takes the mound for the rest of the year? Does that W count double in the standings or something?

I'm of the opinion, especially given the circumstances (first start, Baker at the helm, etc.), that you have to err on the side of caution here. What would you all be saying if he HAD hurt himself?

I think we all need a Strike3 lesson on taking care of young arms early in the season.

Can't we just enjoy the moment? At least were not sitting around trying to figure who's going to be our 3rd, 4th, and 5th starters for once. Let's give Dusty, and this Team a chance.

He didn't have a perfect game going into the 7th, so there's really nothing to debate.

I'm glad you're not the Reds manager. Good way to ruin your young pitchers arm.

I'm with you , LRCW. As much as we all would love to see a perfect game, it is not worth jeopardizing a young man's career. I say stick with the pitch count and look forward to future no-no's. Its not really that close a call. The no-hitter will come later.

If Cueto had hurt his arm after 8 1/3 , you guys would have been blasting Baker for leaving him in. Seven was plenty yesterday.

I would have left him in and go for the no hitter.
