March 29, 200818 yr The bolded text is extremely misleading. Reagan inherited an economy from the president who made the misery index a household word (actually a household phrase). A better judgment on the economic policies of Reagan and Clinton is the difference in the misery index between their first and last days in office. On that basis, Clinton cannot hold a candle to Reagan and neither can any other modern president. I'm sorry it was SO Misleading. That was not my intent. I never said anything with an intent to bismudge the economic record of Reagan. I was only to point out that the times were still hard and very much so the first three or so years. While we can blame Carter (I'm not above that) can we not then use the same logic and deduce that Bush took a pretty healthy run and moved it down the road? For the record I'm not lover of Clinton or any of these presidents, I just try to look at ALL the camera angles of their records.

On some issues, I would be comfortable with McCain keeping the status quo and enhancing the things that GW has started. Abortion issue and specifically naming what seems to be conservative in thought Supreme Court justices. On other issues, I hope he does change some things and think he has alluded to do those changes. Earmark spending and the out of control spending that the Congress has become addicted to.
