His full name is Rev. Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr. If you can find an audio clip, it is well worth the listen. The hatred for American whites comes through loud and clear. I do not believe that it would have been possible for him to have hidden that venom from Obama and the would-be First Lady for the past 20 years.

I really expected the Trinity Church of Christ to sanitize its website months ago when Obama first announced that he would run for the presidency.

 

Those of you who are defending Obama and his church, I have a question. Have you actually heard the Rev. Wright's recent racist diatribe?

 

I would quote Rev. Wright's offensive rant or post a link to it, but I prefer not to be banned from BGP for life.

 

This is not just some preacher who Obama knows. Obama has been attending this man's church for 20 years and described Rev. Wright as his friend and spiritual mentor.

 

Obama needs to condemn Wright's racist remarks in strong, uncertain, and convincing terms, or it will take a real miracle to get him elected.

 

I haven't listened to Rush Limbaugh in like 3 years but I turned it on today and heard Reverend Wright's Christmas sermon, as well as one from 2003.

 

I have plenty of reasons not to vote for Barack Obama other than his church, and I don't like resorting to person's church as a reason to vote for them. But hearing that sermon was very ear-opening. I am not saying that it reflects the views of Sen. Obama, but it is really, really crazy what the guy was saying, especially in a house of God.

Considering that blacks have voted for Hillary in overwhelming numbers in her previous campaigns, his attacks on her in particular show a deep hatred for white Americans.

The truth is that they, both Obama and Hillary, just voted for what will end up being an increase in taxes on the middle class.

While he shouldn't be talking politics in church (the reason I left my church), what I heard him say about Hillary Clinton is true. She has never had to go through what black Americans go through. Once again. This all stems from a fear of a black man actually coming in and upsetting over 200 years of white political dominance and that scares the crap out of some.

Where is the blue world did you ever see Sen. Obama do or say anything racist? You want to pin his beliefs with the rantings of a minister then you have to pin McCain's beliefs with those of the nut-bags that endorse him. Once again you're missing the point of my argument. If you get to say that Obama is a racist b/c he goes to a church headed by a guy who is a little weird then I get to say McCain is a nut-bag b/c he has encouraged endorsements by nut-bags.

 

Obama's preacher gave an award to Frarakahn of his own accord and I'm pretty sure it was nothing to do with Obama's church.

 

To be fair, my preacher in 2001 did make a Falwellesque statement about 9/11 being blamed on the US allowing abortions and gays. I think it's pretty obvious that I don't adhere to that attitude. That preacher left out of the blue in 2002 to start his own church.

Now, how do we know that no president in the last 30 years was not racist? Many times, people who are racist are not exactly public about it. As president, I don't think he/she would be able to excercise any racist policy, given our current laws, etc. And, I must say, I have not heard the minister's rant, but is it possible he's an extremist, as much as we can mention other extremists in other churches?

I'm not sure who I will be voting for at this time. However, I do know that I feel if there were solid evidence of some sort of skeletons, no one's circulating that evidence yet. Right now, all I see is less-than-credible, laughable, disprovable assertions against the man's character. That is abominable to me.

I've not seen or heard Rev Wright's supposed racism. Is Farakan a racist? In some people's eyes he is. But Obama looking up to a minister that led him to Christ is obviously not a problem with me. From everything I've read on Rev. Wright, he seems like a pretty active black minister who wants to focus on issues important to the black community. He's made some interesting points and while it might scare some white folks, I've not seen anything racist.

I am not condemning Obama for the actions of others. But I am questioning him for not adamantly denounce Wright and his positions. I can't say if Obama is a racist or if Bush, Clinton, Bush, Reagan, or Carter were racist. I do know that Obama has spent the better part of his adult life as a member of a church who more then likely has a racist as a pastor. That makes me question his judgement and character. And yes, character has to be a huge part of helping decide you will vote for. Character is what defines who we are.
