Didn't look like Montgomery's coach took it too well either. He took him out immediately and gave him a pretty good tongue lashing on the bench.

 

Yeah, at that point in the game, it didn't really seem like he was being apologetic for the foul. Things were getting kinda intense there late in the game...a lot of offensive fouls and aggressiveness on both sides.

Ryan Hamm made three huge shots. I don't have it in front of me right now but we were talking earlier about how at least two, maybe all three, gave Mason the lead when they were trailing/tied and his last gave them the lead for good.

I did think, though, that the refs may have been letting them play just a little too much. Did anyone see that kid hit Keith Downing on the head while he was standing by the ref? He had just fouled him, and was pestering Downing even after the foul was called, and Downing kind of jerked away, and then he just hit him on the head while the ref wasn't looking. I thought the 2nd half was going to get really ugly there for a minute.

 

Well it took near an hour to play the 2nd half so not sure how many more they could have called. It had to be at least 30 in the 2nd half alone. And if you were sitting on the Montgomery side you could see Stull say My Bad as he patted him on the head.

 

Hope this win gets everyone off of Ohearn in town. Best team always wins no matter the site, just look at 38th district with Harrison, 39th district with Bracken, 40th district with Montgomery, and 10th region with Montgomery. Not a single home team won a championship in the 10th region this year. :sssh:

Another thought about home court advantage - I dont' think anyone would assume home court would guarantee a win against a decidedly better team - but it is nice for fans when they can follow their team in the tournament without traveling so much.

 

So look at it as giving the fans the home court advantage when the location rotates

I noticed that. I can really appreciate Coach G. doing that at that point.

It was pretty packed, but you could tell they could have squeezed in a few more in different places if need be. Some people stood. It was a nice place, and they did a good job running the tournament, it just didn't feel the same. I guess I'm just used to it being at the Fieldhouse, but it was definitely different. Something I'm not used to. But great job to Montgomery on hosting a great tournament.

 

Also, great job to both teams tonight. Mason played extremely hard. Darius Miller was a man on a mission tonight. He played incredible, and Ryan Hamm stepped up big in the first half with 9 points, and he's a little pest on the defensive end. Mason County was the better team tonight, and their 10th region title is well-deserved. Now let's go to Rupp and beat Elliot County again!

Everything you just said I agree 1000000000% The reason why there was seats is because the 2000 mason co fans that usaully attend tournament games didnt want to travel 45 minutes to Montgomery co and fear a turn-around and waste gas. Also there wasnt a tourny atmosphere it felt like we were playing montgomery in the regular season and the consessions were still selling pop and hot dogs. Last but not least thank you for giving Ryan Hamm credit you are the only one so far I have seen I am very proud of him. I've known Ryan my whole life and nobody and I mean nobody I have ever seen worked harder at the game than him. He led us threw that first quater. With trevor and Russ not even scored yet. He had struggled getting that 3 ball to drop in the regular season but what a better way to find it in the region championship. Great Job Ryan and Great Job Royals Go all the way and bring that trophy back to Maysville.:banana:

I thought both sides battled on the court, I was really not impressed with the way that pretty much the entire Mason team was taunting the Montgomery Side the entire game. I'm not from Mason or Montgomery but have been around ball and I didn't think that showed much class, when your team hits a shot celebrate with your teamates not by turning to the opposing fan section!

Read through the whole thread there are many people that mentioned Ryan's performance last night, and giving him credit for stepping up in a big situation. I love to watch the kid play.

Well, the kid patted him on the rear end a time or two and Downing smack his hand away not wanting to be touched. So after being smack away the kid patted him on the back of the head. I agree Downing did make it out to be worse than what it really was, but the game was really intense at that point and emotions flying high.

Montgomery went Triangle and 2 and Ryan hit some huge shots, if his shot is not falling it changes the entire game! Congratz to Mason, good luck at Rupp!
