Congrats to the Royals on the region title, they were the better team tonight. Miller is just amazing, good luck to you all at Rupp I will be there rooting for the 10th region as usual, go and bring it home. But I would like to congratulate the Indians on a great season also, and to all the seniors good luck in what ever you go on to do after high school, I'm sure you all will do fine, keep your heads up, you got beat by one of the best teams in the state tonight. It was pretty packed, but you could tell they could have squeezed in a few more in different places if need be. Some people stood. It was a nice place, and they did a good job running the tournament, it just didn't feel the same. I guess I'm just used to it being at the Fieldhouse, but it was definitely different. Something I'm not used to. But great job to Montgomery on hosting a great tournament.

 

Also, great job to both teams tonight. Mason played extremely hard. Darius Miller was a man on a mission tonight. He played incredible, and Ryan Hamm stepped up big in the first half with 9 points, and he's a little pest on the defensive end. Mason County was the better team tonight, and their 10th region title is well-deserved. Now let's go to Rupp and beat Elliot County again!

 

I did think, though, that the refs may have been letting them play just a little too much. Did anyone see that kid hit Keith Downing on the head while he was standing by the ref? He had just fouled him, and was pestering Downing even after the foul was called, and Downing kind of jerked away, and then he just hit him on the head while the ref wasn't looking. I thought the 2nd half was going to get really ugly there for a minute.

They did announce it, as soon as he scored the basket. I was actually surprised that they announced it as quickly as they did. They were obviously anticipating it and keeping track of his point total. Congrats Setty on 1,000. (the way he was shooting, I was expecting them to announce later that he had scored his 2,000th point :lol:)

Great job by the Royals. Almost a photocopy of the Clark County game - tight early, Mason takes care of business in the second quarter (23-8 tonight). Mr. Inside (Miller) and Mr. Outside; seemed like every time Montgomery would get to within 14 or 15, Setty would hit a bomb, or Miller would get a rebound and a putback. And what about Hamm with 9 HUGE first-half points! More importantly, Mason played inspired defense as they had throughout the post-season, holding the Indians to 31% shooting.

I don't think the kid hit him on the head mean, it was his way of telling him he did not mean to foul him like that. Crowds were down due to location and the game being in the middle of the week. A lot of people had to work. It worked out no one was turned away. Saturday night would have been a different story. Mason County played a great game. No home court advantage tonight.

It was never scheduled for Saturday night, the finals were supposed to be on Sunday afternoon. Bottom line, nobody got turned away as so many people on here had predicted....some said thousands would be turned away if Montgomery and Mason played in the finals. Montgomery Co. did an outstanding job of hosting the tournament and there's no reason they shouldn't have it again in four years. :thumb:

Didn't look like Montgomery's coach took it too well either. He took him out immediately and gave him a pretty good tongue lashing on the bench.
