Yea but Montgomery could have stayed in the Triangle and 2 and Setty and Miller wouldnt have had so many uncontested shots..... Setty probably hit 4 wide open three's when Montgomery went man!

I was two rows away from the action and I thought I did hear him (Stull?) say my bad, probably wouldnt have been a problem if the kid (Stull?) hadn't already done a couple of things to other players (take the ball out of their hands, etc..). I do think that Downing overreacted to the situation, and I do think that Downing was more interested in taunting the Montgomery Side then he was interested in the game......

Good win . I'm behind you 100% . I was really impresseD with Miller's over all performance, Middleton's ball handling and passing, Setty's hot hand in the last half and Hamm's needed points in the first half. You guys have the experience and talent to win it all. Take one game at a time . I wish you the best.:dancingpa

nanatoad, certainly it will be a much more enjoyable week from my viewpoint with the Royals in Lexington. Congrats to Coach O'hearn and staff and players. I know Lexington is glad to have Mason County in town with fan support that piles into Rupp. When the brackets and regions were drawn out a few weeks ago, I thought if Mason County can survive the region, they would have a great chance to win a few ball games in Lexington and get to Saturday based on what you read on paper but we both know the game is not won based solely on that. Nonetheless, Darius is on his future home floor, I think this team is hungry. They have state tournament experience both with their players returning back, coaching staff has years of experience as both players and coaches in Rupp Arena, and I just think their depth, length, defensive pressure, and scoring ability at all positions will be a major factor against their matchup.

 

Last but not least, nanatoad makes it to Rupp and that is definitely a positive:thumb: Look forward to seeing you my friend!

Well it took near an hour to play the 2nd half so not sure how many more they could have called. It had to be at least 30 in the 2nd half alone. And if you were sitting on the Montgomery side you could see Stull say My Bad as he patted him on the head.

 

Hope this win gets everyone off of Ohearn in town. Best team always wins no matter the site, just look at 38th district with Harrison, 39th district with Bracken, 40th district with Montgomery, and 10th region with Montgomery. Not a single home team won a championship in the 10th region this year. :sssh:

Coach Ohearn along with Coach Moore, Faulkner and Butler did an absolutely marvelous job this year. The varsity played the most competitive schedule in school history and are heading to Rupp with a 25 and 4 record; JV and Frosh lost one game each. The coaches work as a team and developed this same attitude among the players.These coaches teach tough, hardnosed defense, bolstered by a team approach offensively and most importantly are teachers and role models for these young men.

I dont know what is meant by "getting people off of Ohearn in town," but in my mind he and other coaches deserve nothing but praise for a job well done and not finished yet. GO ROYALS!!!

I thought both sides battled on the court, I was really not impressed with the way that pretty much the entire Mason team was taunting the Montgomery Side the entire game. I'm not from Mason or Montgomery but have been around ball and I didn't think that showed much class, when your team hits a shot celebrate with your teamates not by turning to the opposing fan section!

 

The cheering section was taunting them, like cheering sections do, and the game was close at one point. Then Mason started pulling away, and the cheering section still kept saying things about them, so they felt the need to let them know who was ahead, I guess.

I noticed that. I can really appreciate Coach G. doing that at that point.

 

I didn't percieve it as a tongue lashing. When the kid pushed back when he patted him on the back Stull simply should have let it go. Then maybe gestured something later or after the game.

 

Probably a bad move on Stull's part to continue and certainly pat him on the head during a heated moment.

 

I think Coach G was simply coaching and hopefully teaching him something for the future. Sometimes you have to let things "come to you".

Let me clarify, I was watching the game from right where it occured, I could see what came out of the mouth. I could be mistaken but it wasnt too hard to see what was said. The whole thing was blown out of proportion by Downing freaking out like he was punched. The tap on the head was not needed but I don't think it was in foul manner IMO

Everything you just said I agree 1000000000% The reason why there was seats is because the 2000 mason co fans that usaully attend tournament games didnt want to travel 45 minutes to Montgomery co and fear a turn-around and waste gas. Also there wasnt a tourny atmosphere it felt like we were playing montgomery in the regular season and the consessions were still selling pop and hot dogs. Last but not least thank you for giving Ryan Hamm credit you are the only one so far I have seen I am very proud of him. I've known Ryan my whole life and nobody and I mean nobody I have ever seen worked harder at the game than him. He led us threw that first quater. With trevor and Russ not even scored yet. He had struggled getting that 3 ball to drop in the regular season but what a better way to find it in the region championship. Great Job Ryan and Great Job Royals Go all the way and bring that trophy back to Maysville.:banana:

Homeplate, let me echo what you say about Ryan. I have watched Ryanthe last two years and nobody works harder than he. Sure glad to see him find his stroke at the right time. He was shooting terrible during the year but didnt stop him from taking the shot when it was there. Gald he and coaches did not lose confidence.

Indeed we are.

This was a very physical game, no doubt. There were different things each team did on the floor that was probably ill mannered. All I will say about that.

 

Mason Co. played a good game all around and when playing good team ball such as they did last night, they will be difficult to beat. I like watching Mason Co. play and hope to see them make a deep run in the tournament.

 

Darius Miller, IMO, is the best TEAMMATE in the state. Although he usually gets his 20 & 10, he makes everyone around him better. Ive not seen another player who can drive to the basket, get his shoulders square and pull up from 10 feet as well as he can.

 

I look forward to watching him along with Trevor Setty, Russ Middleton, and the rest of the Mason Co. Royals playing in Rupp Arena next week. Best of luck Royals.:ylsuper:
