I have not seen either Holmes or Cov-Cath this year. But didn't Cov-Cath beat Lex-Cath first game of the season?

 

The thing to me is how much Lex-Cath has improved since late December. I saw both of their Mason County games mid-season. Lex-Cath has come a long way since those 2 games. Mason will have to play great from start to finish, including Miller to beat Catholic.

 

Smart is hitting shots like crazy right now. Taylor Stewart is such a versatile player. He was bring the ball down against the Station press tonight, hitting free throws getting rebound, and taking it to the basket. Stewart is a kid who has made great improvement his senior year. Novosel is always tough around the basket. And Tribble and Botkin just do so many fundamental things well.

 

I was very impressed tonight.

 

 

Should be a fun Sweet 16.

 

 

Cov Cath beat Lex Cath early in the season at Cov Cath. Lex Cath spotted them about 20 points to start the game and lost by 2 I believe.

Very insightful, Marovich. Any reason why UK hasnt looked at this kid??? I know he played good, not great tonight, but with the season he had im really surprised he hasnt gotten a call from Billy G.

 

He has been committed to Air Force for a while I believe. BCG doesn't recruit committed players.

I think Stewart might of moved up scholarship wise if he had waited until the end of season. Air Force is getting a very versatile player. I think he is the best all around player on Catholics team.

I think that station had all the tools to win the game but was caught unprepared, the 3 headed monster novesell, stewart, and smart played really well. Then the xfactor sanford played well. Catholic has great players and a great system, I just felt that station was unprepared.

Wow, didn't see this coming! Knew LC was good (okay, great)...but didn't know they were at this level! Congrats to BS on a great season. Good luck to LC in the Sweet 16!

Catholic was absolutely sick from the 3 point line tonight. If they shoot like that, they won't be touched in the Sweet Sixteen. Novosel, Smart, Stewart, and Sanford are all incredibly long and athletic, and just really good together.

 

On a side note, Morones for Bryan Station was insane from the 3 point line as well. I know he had at least 8. What grade is this kid?

I think Morones is a Junior for Station, along with Ashford. Only 2 starters back for them next year. They will be rebuilding big time, and I wonder if they'll have a new coach.

 

Station was unable to play their style tonight. If what they do works, they will kill you. If not, then you saw it tonight. Most of their offense comes off defense.

Ironically Morones used to go to Catholic. Well at least he did for middle schoo not sure if he transfered over for high school but hes a jr.

^Morones had a brother that played for the 2002 Lexington Catholic Championship team if I remember correctly as well...

Many people in the predictions thread thought that Mack's greatness would overshadow three good players on Lex Cath, but tonight Smart, Novosel, and Stewart played their most complete games in awhile. I'm not sure but I think all three went for 20+. Mack had a tough time all game with Catholic running many players at him and preventing him from getting inside or getting off an uncontested shot. Marones for Bryan Station was unconscious at points in this game but didn't get much support from the rest of the team. Overall Lex Cath jumped out early like they did against Scott Co. and this time they were able to maintain the lead and not make too many key mistakes.

 

Smart was definately the MVP of the 11th region tournament with two huge games against Scott Co. and Bryan Station. I really think while Stewart is the best overall player on this team and Novosel might be the toughest its Smart who makes this team run. When he is hitting the three point shot like he is capable of doing, this team is near unstoppable.

Coach Salsman and staff, have the Knights playing very well.

Montel went to Christ the King for middle school and played AAU ball with Catholic all through middle school.

 

He then repeated 8th grade and then went to Bryan Station. Montels dad was an assisstant coach at Catholic but when Flener left his dad left and Montel went to Station. Some of the details might be a little off but I know he went to CKS and played AAU ball with Catholic

That would be incorrect. CCH was down by about 18 early then came back in the 2nd half and won.
