Catholic started on a 11-0 run and Station could never get close. Combs got 3 fouls early (2 on a foul + technical).

 

Catholic looked almost unstoppable tonight. They will be a favorite to win it all.

Wow. Lex Cath rolled through that region like it was nothing.

Wow! I was hoping Bryan Station would get the win. Sounds like LC cut thru them like hot butter. Gonna make a great Sweet 16 with Mason and LC still in it.

I really thought it would be close. Catholic had a big early lead and got Station out of their game. Station couldn't play agressively because the refs called it close. A lot of Stations offense comes off turnovers. Which they didn't get too many of tonight. Not sure what Mack's final stats were, but it was the worst game I have seen him play in a while.

 

Catholic was really impressive tonight against a good Station team. They have gotten better the last month of the season. I don't see anyone challenging Catholic except maybe Mason or Cov-Cath. A Mason vs Catholic final would be pretty sweet.

 

Congrats to Catholic and to Bryan Station. Both had great seasons. Too bad the 11th is so good and one has to go home.

Catholic just demolished 2 of the top 4 teams in the state. SC by 26 and Station by 16, it would have been a lot more but Cath just dribbled around and held the ball for about the last 3 minutes. Jordan Smart played awesome. If Cath continues playing like this, no one will touch them in state.

 

Shelvin Mack just withdrew his name from the Mr. Basketball discussion, he was probably the 3rd best player on his team tonight, behind Morones and Ashford. I think if Smart keeps playing like he did tonight and Cath wins state he might just be thrown in the Mr. Basketball mix. Key word being might, I still think Hopson should win it.

I think it hurts them a lot, he didn't play that well in the Dunbar game either.

The only stats I know is that Mack had 6 points, 4 fouls, and left the game about halfway through the 4th with an injury.

Lex Cath is playing GREAT basketball, any objections? they look like the best team in the state hands down. I believe this could hurt Macks chances, Sanford from Catholic really shut him down tonight. Station didnt know what to do with Lex Caths matchup zone.

I do think it hurts Mack's chances at Mr Basketball. He would have had to gotten Station deep into the Sweet 16 to have a chance.

 

I would say Miller is leading slightly over Hopson. May come down to who has a better Sweet 16.

 

Regardless, I am just happy to see so many talented players in KY right now.

Catholic showed why they are #1 tonight. Brian station had an off night and I wish both of these teams could make it to Rupp. I think if they played again it would be a lot closer, if Mack was on his game. Still a great game though, EKU was packed.

The Holmes/CovCath winner will give them all they want if they match up.

Very insightful, Marovich. Any reason why UK hasnt looked at this kid??? I know he played good, not great tonight, but with the season he had I'm really surprised he hasnt gotten a call from Billy G.

I have not seen either Holmes or Cov-Cath this year. But didn't Cov-Cath beat Lex-Cath first game of the season?

 

The thing to me is how much Lex-Cath has improved since late December. I saw both of their Mason County games mid-season. Lex-Cath has come a long way since those 2 games. Mason will have to play great from start to finish, including Miller to beat Catholic.

 

Smart is hitting shots like crazy right now. Taylor Stewart is such a versatile player. He was bring the ball down against the Station press tonight, hitting free throws getting rebound, and taking it to the basket. Stewart is a kid who has made great improvement his senior year. Novosel is always tough around the basket. And Tribble and Botkin just do so many fundamental things well.

 

I was very impressed tonight.

 

 

Should be a fun Sweet 16.

Congratz Catholic, this was one a shocker for me......hope Bryan Station lets Ligon stay around after Regional Final loss....not sure if anything could make his admin happy.....
