He is helping put people in jail for doing the same things he was taking part in. If it were legal to solicit prostitution, then technically it wouldn't be a problem for him to do so. However, it is not legal and he is in fact breaking the law. Therefore, he should be punished just as any normal person would be. Prostitution should not be illegal, IMO, but as a man who sent women to jail for violating the same laws that he himself violated, I believe that his punishment should be a little more severe than the average John. I doubt that Spitzer will be charged with a crime, however, because the federal government does not normally charge the clients of prostitution rings. It will be interesting to see if "Mr. Clean" will have the decency to resign on his own or if he will hang around to be hounded out of office.

CNN said he would probably plea down to a misdmeanor with the stipulation he resigns.
March 11, 200818 yr I don't feel strongly either way about prostitution, but when enforcers of the law violate the very laws that they have agreed to uphold, then they deserve as stiff a sentence as any other perpetrator of those crimes. My problem with prostitution is that the women are often prosecuted and the men are rarely prosecuted. If the prostitutes in this case are jailed, then Spitzer should also be jailed. There would be no supply without the demands of people like Spitzer.
March 11, 200818 yr Was reading the front page story in the Enquirer on this written by AP writer Michael Hill. Can't find it online to link it. But in the Enquirer front page story, his political party is NEVER MENTIONED. But a representative who is quoted and called for his resignation does have his political party listed. Of course, he is a GOP congressman.

I also agree, that there are so many jokes in this one that it is not funny. You think Hillary is ready to just go waterboy on him? He really did get out in front of this before the news broke, makes me wonder if there is more to come.

BUT, I find it highly hypocritical of him that he would prosecute prostitute rings while he visits himself. And normally when things like this come up, I don't care either way. This morning's news stated 70% of New York residents believe he should resign.
