When Dixie did beat Holmes in 06 did they slow the game down? Yes they did. I could see Chevy slowing the game down against them this time. No point during the regluar season trying to slow the game down for dixie. Meaning see if you can play with them now if not you know what to try in regions. This is just my opion. I only got upset with how people think they will totally get blown out and making Holmes sound like they are god compared to everyone else in the region.

Holmes is just too fast and strong. I actually believe that Holmes is better at this point in the season than they were last season.

Again, do you honestly think Dixie beats Holmes that year if Rice doesn't get kicked off the team at the end of the year after Holmes had already beat them by 15 the night after without him?

 

I was at that game and if I remember right they probably would have beat Dixie in the regional if Jefferson didn't get a T.

 

I realize Holmes is the better team but the better team does not always win. I think Dixie which has a lot of seniors will play tougher in a loose and your career is over game than people are giving them credit for.

 

I am not saying they will win, I just expect a closer game than 15 points.

Holmes is good this year but come on. Last years team was real good!!! Last year they didnt have to play defense because they had so many weapons on offense they knew they would just outscore their opponent. Last year they made it to the state semi's and lost to eventual champs by like 7-9 I think. This years team is good and will probably win region again but I dont think they compare to last years team.

Last year's team didn't have the teamwork or play the defense that this year's team does. If they did, they would have been able to win state. Also this year's team is much deeper than last year. If you got one of the big 4 in foul trouble (Rice, Jefferson, Hill, Henderson), you had a very good chance at beating Holmes.

 

This year they go about 11 deep without losing a beat offensively or defensively. Less selfish players as well. Talent wise, last year's team was better. But overall, I think this group is better than the Hill, Jefferson, Rice era hands down.

I think that is true to an extent. Not having Jefferson all year really hurt them and it didn't help that midway through the season 6 players were suspended including 4 starters.

 

I think the biggest difference between the two is focus and discipline. Every Holmes senior this year has stressed that to the underclassmen.

 

As many problems and injuries Holmes had last year though, that group still managed to make it to the state semi's though. That speaks volumes to how much they progressed from their sophomore region championship to their senior year. Coach Henley turned those "boys" in to men.
