Also, great game Robert Hatton. One thing that's pretty cool about getting involved with kids and basketball is watching them develop over the years. I have no ties to GRC or do I personally know anyone in their program, but I can say that the first time I saw Hatton play he would have been about a 3rd grader. A team I had a vested interest in played his team in the final game of a weekend tournament at the Dunbar Center on the north side of Lexington. He was a very good player in 3rd grade and I think got MVP of that event. The same kids that matched up with Hatton that weekend have played many times over the years through AAU, middle school, and now high school. They only know each other competetively.

I'm intrigued by the GRC-Mason matchup... last two matchups in region have been outstanding, GRC's youth vs. Mason's experience this go around... should be a fun contest...

 

How good would a Knowles vs. Miller region take 3 have been... too bad Knowles is with Ricky P now....

 

I look for a Mason win, but closer than the 67-50 score from Feb. 8.... especially if guys like Purvis/Williams/Miller step up and have nice games...

I echo your words above. I followed the shot and it hit on the right side of the rim and fell off! Unbelievable game to deliver, what the 10th region tournament is all about. Hats off to Clark County, they pick up their 43rd win in the tournament all time. I really believe it came down to the experience factor late in this ball game. Clark County kept their poise and didn't panic even after trailing most of the game and by as much as nine. There were 4 ties and 4 lead changes, great game!

 

 

Also I thought Campbell's sr PG fouling out in the last 2 minutes really turned the tide. He was doing a great job handling the ball and setting up the Camels offense.

According to Map Quest it is 98 miles from Alexandria to Mt. Sterling if you run through Maysville and Flemingsburg. If you started out in Highland Heights, it would be close to 110 miles.

 

When you figure that its 185 miles from Cincinnati to Tennessee (northern tip to southern border), traveling 110 miles for a regional high school basketball game seems a bit extreme?? With 120 counties and 16 regions is this really necessary? From one end of the 9th region to another is about what--15 miles?

 

Congrats to Clark on advancing--Good luck in the rest of the tourney! To the Camels--Great season and a fine job of turning around their program by Coach Code & his staff!! Amazing what the addition of a couple of former Mustangs did to turn around their program? They'll be very tough and district favorites again next year!!

I am a big Brossart fan but I think you're going a little bit out on the limb when you think just because they have former Mustangs on the staff is why their program turned around. I think Coach Scott Code coaching style is what help turn the Camels around.

 

Back to the thread. I was unable to attend the game last night. I listened to the end on my phone. Heartbreaking loss for the Camels. With another year under Coach Code, the Camels will be a very disciplined team and the victories will fall their way. Look for them to make noise in the 10th Region next year.

 

Hopefully the Camels will not have to wait 30 more year to claim a regional title.

That was not the case. # 32 is Ryan Williams and he always plays hard nosed like that and he is a starter.

It's hard to believe Williams could guard Parks as close as he did all over the floor and not foul him. As a matter of fact as much as I wanted to believe he was fouling him there was no justification for the ref to call one. Very good defense! Therefore a lot of credit goes to Parks for keeping his poise throughout the game. The game was filled with excitement -- very good defense and a load of big time shots. Previous posts imply that the Camels lost it at the line but the truth is Clark won the game in the end.

Both teams showed a lot of poise especially at the end, it's just a shame there can only be one winner and in this case it happened to be the Cards.
