GRC 63 Campbell Co. 61 (10th Region, 1st Round)

Featured Replies

It is 110 miles to Montgomery County High School from Campbell County plus a starting time of 5:00 p.m. makes the game kind of tough for parents and students to get there.

How do you go to get to Montgomery County and it be 110 miles? I agree the 5:00 start is tough, but they used to do that all the time at Mason County years ago.

The 5:00 and 8:30 start times are absolutely ridiculous. Montgomery County practically pushed you out the door after the GRC game.

The same thing has happened at Mason County before. I remember when they had split sessions at the Fieldhouse and they hurried the first game fans out of the gym.

You take the scenic route? :D There's no way its that many miles. You can get to Ashland under that.

There is absolutely no reason for split session games in the first round. There may have been 150 people there for Campbell County. GRC was 15 minutes away and filled the bottom section, but there was plenty of room in the upper.

I agree. I believe the first rounds should not be split sessionns...Although I feel that the teams that play the first game should move and let the next two teams get the lower level seats.

All 10th Region fans, parents, players who care should let their AD, principal or whoever is on the committee that makes these decisions know we want a change!

The 5 and 8:30 start times are ridiculously early and late for school nights. Split sessions are totally unnecessary for first round games! In fact there is no reason the top seeded school shouldn't host the first round game at home.

It has been done this way for so long the committee won't make a change unless we speak up.

Wasn't Campbell County up pretty big going into their fourth quarter against Scott in the district final? They were up 8 or 9 tonight. Great ending, glad to see Evan Bennett hit the threee late in the game.[/quote]

Got to love the " little red head".:thumb: He hit the 3 last year in the finals of the region against Mason Co to put us up by 4 to win.

I want to say that this was a tough loss for the Camels. They played really well tonight and if only they could have hit their free throws late in the game. Yes the last shot could have just as easily gone in then to bounce out but it should have never gotten to that point. Seniors Jordan Parks, Ryan Eten and Andy Franzen played a great game and gave it their all on their last game as a Camel. We will wish them well as they go on to play soccer at Transy for Parks, football at Morehead for Eten and most likely baseball for Andy Franzen. I have watched you three boys for many years and have fond memories of our school teams and our Gators team. You are special boys and I will miss you. Now for next year....the Camels will be back. We need to learn to win and to shake the attitude that it is alright to come in second. It will come in time and this coaching staff will be the ones to do it.

Good luck to Clark Co in this tournament. While I enjoyed my regional days at Mason Co it was good to travel to another venue and the gym at Montgomery Co is exceptional. The only problem was the early start time and the split session. It made it very difficult for students and parents to attend. Our game was over at 6:30; there was no need for such a gap until the second game.

Once again, thanks for a great season Camels !

Fun game to watch. Camels only hit 15 of 27 foul shots for the game. Both teams had two starters foul out. Thought the refs could have let them play a little more. Its a shame when that many fouls are called. Two class teams. Thanks to the four Camel seniors for a great season. It good to see Camel basketball back in the regional tournament. Camels were up nine going into the last quarter and Clark hit several threes to get them back in the game. It was hard for Camel fans to get to the game by 5:00. I agree a 6 and 8:30 start time would be much better. Very nice facility, first time I have been in the new gym.

They don't call enough, they call too much. No fan of either team here, but as long as they are consistent that is all you can ask, and they called them on both teams. Camels had their chances at the line and couldn't put it away. Code should not get the blame here. He looks as though he will turn this program into a region contender every season. Look for these two to meet again in future years to come.

Great game, 10th region basketball at it's best! the Cards refused to lose, congrats on the win.:thumb:

Could have played a little better TEAM ball. Penetrate and dish.

Great Season for the Camels, look forward to additonal success down the road for the team.

Congrats to GRC on the win. I have to agree, the split session is crazy there is absolutly no reason to do this in the first round and it needs to be changed. Nobody wants to go to a game and have to leave and come back in to see the next game, thats the most stupid thing I've ever heard.
