Malachicrunch- Your not the only one on this thread.. you did not complain about the refs... But others here have!

I just hope Conner plays ND in the finals. Dont want to hear anything when ND shoots 15FT and you have 0 in the 4th quarter before the fouling starts. The questions was asked did Conner have those refs in the Queen of the Bluegrass this year for 4 games? But i will go back to my statement HHS should have over came the refs and made layups and block shots and it wouldnt have made a difference on the FT attempts. Good luck to Conner you made the plays to win the game. Again, i could care less who wins, i just think it wrong to work with refs all year long and change the most important time.

NEWSFLASH: the game is over and the score won't be changed no matter how good or bad the officiating was. There are always two sides to the story. Obviously it depends on your point of view. There has been a lot of posts on here about either good/bad officiating. Game is over, move on.....

Just curious to know who you were rooting for because generally the losing team complains more about the officiating than the winners do- myself included. I have read this entire thread and was not at the game but it does seem that the amont of foul shots was quite a difference in the game. Sometimes that happens though - it is usally not a perfect balance as much as we fans want it to be.

 

I have seen both teams this year and IMO I would have to give the nod to Conner eventhough they lost to Highlands twice- they seemed more experienced and poised which goes a long way this time of year. Sounds like a good game.

 

What region were the officials from? Is each region assigned to another region for the entire tournament?

 

Didn't have a dog in the fight but did attend the game. Here is just one scenario of how opinions can be wrong. I was seated on the floor opposite of the benches. A conner player dives for a loose ball right in the corner and in front of me. Official is standing about 8 feet from the play on the sideline, right where he needs to be. She hits the ball which begins to roll away, as it does she gets up on her knees to grab it as a HHS player comes diving in as well, Conner player hits the ball which rolls on the floor toward the sideline and as it is going out of bounds hits the back of the HHS player. Ref calls Conner ball which is the right call. HHS fans go nuts, horrible call, how can you miss that? Etc.... There is no way the could have seen it hit the back of the HHS player yet they are complaining about a "bad" call.

I had a feeling Conner might win this one after watching them put a hurting on NewCath in the last week of the season. Congrats Conner, you have a very good team.

I agree...Every perspective is different not everyone can see the calls.. but everyone wants to be the ref... Not intended at HHS or CHS but thats for every school in every sport at any level

Did you have a good angle on the charge called on Highlands Cutter (24). We were sitting at halfcourt right behind the scorers table. I as well as a friend thought it was a good call, but our angle was bad. There was some barking about that call also.

I knew it was a vast group, but until now didn't know it included 16th Regions varsity girls refs as well. They will get special recognition at the monthly meeting in Park Hills next week...

That was a charge on Cutter I was on the Conner side on that end where it happened by the door. Nice play by Hodges to stand in and take it shes a smart player.

I thought the officiating was okay. Free throws were a little lopsided (before HHS started fouling late), but that happens from time to time. One thing I did notice that the HHS coaching staff was on the officials about was 3 seconds in the lane. Many, many times CHS had a player flash to the middle of the paint against the HHS zone and stayed in there for much longer than the 3 seconds allowed. Sometimes that one can be tough to spot, but it was glaring at times and pointed out by the coaches on more than one occasion. It was not called once. What made that tough is the wing players of the HHS zone had to suck in a little to cover that CHS player camping in the lane and it opened up the outside shot a little more than it probably should have and CHS burried a bunch of them.

 

The officiating did not cost HHS the game by any stretch of the imagination. CHS made baskets late in the game when they had to and HHS didn't.

Part of the disparity in free throws could be that, if I remember correctly, HHS missed front ends of one and ones.

Funny about the three second non-calls is that Conner almost never had any one inside, they would at times have a player at the free throw line but almost never posted up.
