The officiating was not very good, but it didn't cost Highlands the game. Congrats to Conner on a well played game.

 

What about the officiating wasn't good? I thought they called an excellent game. They were consistent, let the players play the game, and let the kids dictate the outcome. That's what good officials do.

 

The reason regions switch officials with other regions it to take all elements out of the game except for the game itself. I think it's a great move. That way the best team on any given night truly wins, no outside factor.

I would have to agree with bjim, it wasnt the best from those in stripes but it wasnt the best from HHS either. To many bad choices, missed layups and missed block shots they normally make. I just think a team that goes inside all night long would get to the FT line more than 0 times going into the 4th quarter. Oh well, Congrats to ND if they let that type of play go on inside no one can beat them in the region IMO.

I would like to commend #4 Devin Beasley from Conner, on an outstanding game on both ends of the floor. She showed great poise running the offense, and played good defense, man up on Allen. Only a sophomore, excellent game for her.

Congrats to Conner they made plays when the HHS kids didn't. I just hate to see a game called by refs from out of region. Why play all year long with your regions refs and then the most important time of the year lets get people we have no idea how they call. With 2 minutes to go Conner had shot 16ft to HHS 0. I guess Conners man defense is not as aggressive as HHS zone. I think the final total was 20FT for Conner and 5 for HHS 3ft for HHS with 20secs to go. I would say Conner is the runner up to ND. HHS kids didn't seem to handle the pressure of being the favorite very well at all. Just make you think how BC and ND do it every year as the favorite. I cant see how its wasn't and upset. But good luck Conner you earned it tonight.

Also i agree with atm. Great officiated game last night. I dont why anyone would think the refs did a bad job. Probably one of the best officiated games I have seen all year. Conner only shot so many free throws because they were up late in the game and highlands was forced to foul. But good game Highlands. Good luck in the future

Just curious to know who you were rooting for because generally the losing team complains more about the officiating than the winners do- myself included. I have read this entire thread and was not at the game but it does seem that the amont of foul shots was quite a difference in the game. Sometimes that happens though - it is usally not a perfect balance as much as we fans want it to be.

 

I have seen both teams this year and IMO I would have to give the nod to Conner eventhough they lost to Highlands twice- they seemed more experienced and poised which goes a long way this time of year. Sounds like a good game.

Wow! As they say, "it's tough to beat the same team three times in the same season. Anyway, congrats to Conner. Good luck as you move on.

 

Lucky for Conner those first two games meant nothing, right?

I just hope Conner plays ND in the finals. Dont want to hear anything when ND shoots 15FT and you have 0 in the 4th quarter before the fouling starts. The questions was asked did Conner have those refs in the Queen of the Bluegrass this year for 4 games? But i will go back to my statement HHS should have over came the refs and made layups and block shots and it wouldnt have made a difference on the FT attempts. Good luck to Conner you made the plays to win the game. Again, i could care less who wins, i just think it wrong to work with refs all year long and change the most important time.
