March 1, 200818 yr Written by Wayne A. Lett; Browns 24/7 Staff Friday, 29 February 2008 Citing various reports online, Browns 24/7 has learned that Detroit Lion defensive linemen, Shaun Rogers, has been traded to the Cleveland Browns for CB Leigh Bodden and their 3rd round pick. According to Hondo Carpenter of SpartanNation.com says the deal is done. Rogers was originally traded to the Cincinnati Bengals for a couple of mid-round draft picks. However, the league office rejected that trade. The Lions pulled the trade off the table and looked for another suitor. That suitor was apparently the Cleveland Browns GM, Phil Savage. Savage earlier on Friday sent Cleveland's 2nd round pick in exchange for Green Bay Packers DL Corey Williams. With this pending trade announcement, Cleveland currently would have no first day picks, but they have really beefed up their defensive front line. The team has yet to confirm or deny these reports. Please stay tuned to Browns 24/7 as this story breaks. http://browns247.com/

March 1, 200818 yr I know this was already touched upon on the previous thread, but since this is now a done deal, I figured I would start a new thread. ************************************************** DETROIT (AP)—The Detroit Lions traded Shaun Rogers to the Cleveland Browns instead of dealing him to the Cincinnati Bengals, a person familiar with the moves told The Associated Press. The person, who spoke on the condition of anonymity Friday night because the Lions and Browns were not commenting on the trade, said Detroit acquired cornerback Leigh Bodden and a third-round pick from Cleveland after the deal with Cincinnati fell through. Detroit previously was set to get Cincinnati’s third- and fifth-round picks, a deal still posted on the Bengals’ team Web site late Friday night. The Lions were aggressively trying to move Rogers, a talented but inconsistent defensive tackle who was due to make a $1 million roster bonus at 12:01 a.m. EST Saturday. http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_ylt=AjJ658DeSWlDkYkhBttkoRpDubYF?slug=ap-lions-brownstrade&prov=ap&type=lgns
March 1, 200818 yr Bengal fans get dealt another sucker punch by the Brown family. Better sign someone else or the fan base is gonna boil over.
March 1, 200818 yr The Bengals are a joke. You do realize that the NFL stopped this deal, not the Bengals; it is being reported that it was a problem with the language in the deal and a salary cap violation. The Lions got a better deal once the original was voided and they jumped on it. The Browns losing Bodden will actually help the Bengals; he gave them fits.
March 1, 200818 yr The Browns now have NO picks in the 1st three rounds due to the Brady Quinn trade, Williams trade, and Rogers trade.

Doesn't change the fact that the Bengals are a joke.
March 1, 200818 yr All that may be true. Doesn't change the fact that the Bengals are a joke. Why is that? I agree they have regressed the last 2 seasons, but far from a joke.
March 1, 200818 yr The Bengals have almost 40 Million in Salry cap room, how could adding Rogers have possibly sent them anywhere near that? If it was held up by the league, I have no doubt that the Browns wanted the Lions to pay something in his contract that made it not go through. I m about done with these clowns!

Bodden was a very good corner, IMO, whose best days are likely ahead of him. The Browns didn't get Rogers cheap, IMO. He's a great DT when motivated to play though, so assuming he gives them the effort, I'd say they made a good deal...the Browns, like the Bengals, desperately needed help on the front four.
March 1, 200818 yr Browns are getting help with the front four and they just agreed to terms with Stallworth from NE so Cleveland is throwing some cash around.

The Lions got a better deal once the original was voided and they jumped on it. The Browns losing Bodden will actually help the Bengals; he gave them fits. Exactly my point. You don't have someone looking over these things and making sure the "language" is ok. There is no point in trying to defend this organization. I have very recently seen the light with this franchise.
