pallex32 Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 Dont have any stats or anything like that, just found the score on the KHSAA website. Congrats to the Bobcats, hope they can use this win to win one at the region. :dancingpa
lucky13 Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 I predict this thread gets locked before morning. You just had to be there, and even then you wouldn't have believed it. Truly sad.

1owlzfan Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 Yea you're making us all curious. Don't keep us in suspense!!!
AHSPanther23 Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 Stop with the suspense and tell us what happened!!
ST5 Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 I would bet that there will be some whining about the officials....LOL
lucky13 Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 About 30 seconds left, 2 point game, Drew Davidson on the floor under Breathitt's basket, fighting for the ball, gets it to another kid who brings it down, Davidson still at the other end of the floor, offensive foul called, not on the kid with the ball or even one who was around the ball but on Davidson, his 5th to foul him out. The coach argues it, Drew argues it, the other two officials question it. The call stands. But we're not finished! About 7 seconds to go, one point game, Breathitt is up, Jackson player drives to the basket, makes the basket, same ref calls a charge, Breathitt ends up winning. One Breathitt dad, who is a hardcore, true blue, Breathitt fan hugged me after the game and told me what a terrible call that was. Several others did the same to our players and coach. The other two officials apologized to Jackson fans who saw them at a convenience store after the game, said they questioned the call on Davidson but couldn't overrule him. Both teams played so hard and the game truly could have gone either way. The win would have been deserved either way and as much as I feel bad for Jackson it's not fair to Breathitt's players either. They played a heck of a game and to have the win tainted does them an injustice.

Big Game Player Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 I wasn't there but a Breathitt fan said the same thing as lucky13 said. Sad to have a win like this but the players did nothing so congrats to Breathitt. Congrats to Jackson on a hard faught game and goodluck to both teams in region.
3 Point Play Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 About 30 seconds left, 2 point game, Drew Davidson on the floor under Breathitt's basket, fighting for the ball, gets it to another kid who brings it down, Davidson still at the other end of the floor, offensive foul called, not on the kid with the ball or even one who was around the ball but on Davidson, his 5th to foul him out. Both teams played so hard and the game truly could have gone either way. The win would have been deserved either way and as much as I feel bad for Jackson it's not fair to Breathitt's players either. They played a heck of a game and to have the win tainted does them an injustice. The only charge call was the one on Drew and it was a good call. Before we get into the referees, lets look at the free throws for this game. Breathitt shot 10, 4 of them coming in the last 10 seconds, and Jackson shot 8. This was a hard fought game that had an exciting ending. Breathitt had a 12 point lead at the half and at the end of third quarter. They led by as many as 17 or 19 in the second half, but went ice cold from the field in the fourth quarter. It came down to Jackson having to foul, but they only had four fouls called on them with about a minute and a half left, so they had to foul three times to put Breathitt on the line. Hollon missed the front end of a bonus, but Smith tipped it out to him and Jackson fouled Hollon again. Hollon missed again and Jackson got the rebound and threw it out of bounds. Breathitt inbounded to Smith with 1.6 left and Jackson fouled him. Smith missed the first one and tried to miss the second intentionally, but missed the rim. Jackson inbounded to Howard for a desperation shot that missed. Both teams played hard and it was an exciting game, so lets not turn this into an argument about officiating. Breathitt was not even in the bonus in the second half til around the last 30 seconds or so. Good luck to both teams in the region next week.
pallex32 Posted March 1, 2008 Author Posted March 1, 2008 Sounds to me like a good game. I say a few hard feelings between the schools. Looks like the streak is still alive for Breathitt fans. Jackson City has not ever beat them.
