As a teacher, I will testify that those things that I was taught in college about teaching and discipline, for the most part, doesn't work.

 

The college professors like to sit there and act like they know how to show someone to teach and manage a classroom and they have never been in any classroom besides a college classroom.

 

Recently, went to a training on managing classroom. The presenter started by saying that he taught 2nd grade for a semester and couldn't handle it, so he left. Went to MS and lasted 3 years. Went to junior level in HS and left after 2 years.

 

But here he was today telling us how to manage our classroom. If the things he learned was so successful, why didn't they work for him??????

 

I'm not in a teaching course. I'm taking a course on Domestic Violence taught by a woman who has worked in domestic violence cases for many years. I think she knows what she is talking about...

I know you did not have to read it by choice...I had to read my fair share of that crap in college. Just do yourself a favor and read it, write a paper on it, answer the questions in class about it...get your grade, then, forget it. Don't believe everything you read.....and always remember and never forget, numbers can be made to go into the direction that the writer wants them to go....stats and studies don't mean a hill of beans IMO.

 

Like I said earlier, what I've learned in my Domestic Violence class I will take as pretty good information. The woman teaching it has been involved in Domestic Violence cases for many years, she knows her stuff.

Again, when you have kids, come weigh in on the subject, until then your opinion carries little to no weight. You have no experience, and yes, experience matters.

Is this about spanking a child or domestic abuse / assaultive behavior? They are not the same. Beating a child is horrible. Period. Nobody in their right mind is supportive to that. Spanking is not the same... at least in my mind, and is appropriate at certain times.

Then I guess those of us who have never been politicians should stay out of the politics threads too...

Apples to oranges and you know it. Just about everyone will be a parent but not a politician. Besides, we ELECT them, they're working for us. You have no experience, you don't really know what your talking about when it comes to parenting, you have no leg to stand on in this subject.

When you do have kids someday, try the book crap, then get back with me and let me know how that worked out for ya. :lol:

It's not all "book crap". Some of my knowledge comes from my professor...who has kids. :scared:

BTW, being a parent, doesn't make you good at being a parent. Not everyone who has kids is qualified to raise children.
