Holmes returns Pittman and both Johnsons as well as a JV team that only lost 1 game this year. Boone will definetly be in the top 2 or 3 though.

For a team that relies so heavily on three-point shooting and has done so well at it (41%) this year, 4 of 18 behind the arc (22%) - especially when most of those were good, clean, open looks - isn't going to get it done.

You are right. That won't get it done. Two players were a combined 3-8 from 3 in this game and two others were 1-10. I don't think Krohman had any good open looks. His shots were hurried. Flannery's threes were not wide open, and I thought he did a good job with hands in his face.

Pouncy was one. Big tall blonde another. I thought they did a decent job overall. Conner was at the line a lot because Boone did not defend as well.

No, Krohman had at least two wide open looks from the baseline and I thought more. If they were hurried, it was because he unnecessarily rushed them. They weren't badly missed or anything, he just missed them. Flannery did hit a couple nice ones. In fact, if there were one thing that I personally would have changed about the game, it would have been to leave him out on the floor more. He seemed like he was really into the flow of the game and Boone could've used a few more minutes from him.

I wasn't at the game so I can't comment too much on it. I just think coaches, in general, get blamed too much when a team loses but when the team wins all the praise goes to the players. Boone, as you said is young and we will find out in 2010 if they're that good or if they did indeed overachieve this year.

 

That may be true, but right or wrong, along with positions of responsibility comes more accountability for the results of your team/players/followers, whether you are a CEO or manager at a company, a head coach of a team, or a leader of any organization. Coaches often take the fall at college and pro level. Not saying it is always fair, but it is reality.

Point guard will most likely be Jamel Riley. I could be wrong though. I know they have two freshman playing jv though. The Herndon kid is also a point guard. But then again Ricardo Johnson could potentially run the point as well.

 

As for the JV championship I believe it was between CCH and Ryle so one of those two.

Dixie will be losing a bunch of seniors and will be re-building for the 2 years after next so not sure if they will be up there. For Boone being up there next year and to make a run they need to forget about AAU ball and play some D. They like to over react on some calls from the refs and get there heads out of the game when things do not go there way but this could be due to being a young team. I believe if Boone would play D and forget about just offense they will be alright. With that said they need to look for Earls and Mcfarland more in the future to run the offense through and everything will open up for the guards. Pretty much to make is simple they need to play organized basketball and not aau basketball. This is what I saw from the 2 games I saw them play.

Definitely not a poor game plan to do that. Taking no credit away from Conner, they played well. IMO, What it boiled down to for Boone that everybody on the team has to play hard, not leave their man, and rebound. Some Conner players were left open repeatedly and they made Boone pay. I also thought it was smart of Hicks to start a second big man (Broyles) this time against Boone. He did not do this in the first three games.

I think from the start of the game it looked like Boone expected to win and Conner wanted to win.

 

The open looks that Stephens was getting was because he would back screen for Pugh, his man(Gabbard) had to hedge on Pugh, then Stephens would pop out at the top of the key and be open. Boone obviously and rightly were more focused on stopping the entry pass to Pugh on the block.
