But gun control efforts, this abomination called universal health care, and keeping the Bush tax cuts mean a lot to me, as well. You need to spend some time in the large cities in the southwest. Houston, Dallas, Fort Worth, San Antonio, Albuquerque, Phoenix, El Paso. I spend a lot of time in all these cities, and I can say first hand that the majority of illegals are not here to earn an honest wage. They are here because family members have come over in the past and told them how they get food stamps, medical cards, vouchers for heat in the winter, free education for their children, and countless other perks they don't get in Mexico. They get these things, all paid for by tax dollars, without contributing to the economy at all. Go to any community of illegals in this country, (they tend to flock together) and ask local law enforcement or emergency services if they are familiar with them. 90% will say only too well. They burden these services, once again without contributing to the kitty that funds these services. Closing the border isn't the complete answer, but it is one of many steps in the right direction. How about rounding up the sick, poor and\or illegals in the street and just shooting them all? Jeez...:irked:
February 28, 200818 yr I pay taxes If you're in school I doubt you pay the taxes that these programs are funded by. I'm guessing you get back just about 100% of your federal and a large chunk of your state. Social Security and local taxes aren't in play here.

February 28, 200818 yr I dont feel that closing our borders is going to solve the imigration problem. I believe that it is a problem, and feel that all people's should go through the legal channels to enter the country. Yet I also feel that the majority of illegals in this country are only hear to earn a honest wage for their family. Its a tough call. So if someone is smuggling drugs into this country or selling drugs in this country to earn an honest wage for their family they get a pass? Breaking the law is breaking the law. If you are in this country illegally you are breaking the laws of the United States of America. It is black and white. There are no gray areas here. I don't care why you came here if you are here illegally. Box their butts up and ship them out then but locks on the gates.

When illegals are in county and city jails your local taxes come into play. Social Security has been "borrowed" from since the Vietnam war and used to contribute to several different programs. And I add that not one dime has ever been paid back. That is the reason it is "going broke". If the money had been repaid the age at which you draw Social Security would not have been raised. There are thousand of illegals in Federal Prisons that stay there for years awaiting INS , and INS is in no hury to deal with them.I can tell you that about 45% of the US population works for government if you include federal, state, county, and city workers. If you factor in the unemployed,and the illegals, that leaves about 35% of the working force to pay the bills for the whole US. Does that explain the national debt ?
