February 29, 200818 yr I can't tell you how thegooch contributes but there is more here than meets the eye ! When illegals are in county and city jails your local taxes come into play. Social Security has been "borrowed" from since the Vietnam war and used to contribute to several different programs. And I add that not one dime has ever been paid back. That is the reason it is "going broke". If the money had been repaid the age at which you draw Social Security would not have been raised. There are thousand of illegals in Federal Prisons that stay there for years awaiting INS , and INS is in no hury to deal with them.I can tell you that about 45% of the US population works for government if you include federal, state, county, and city workers. If you factor in the unemployed,and the illegals, that leaves about 35% of the working force to pay the bills for the whole US. Does that explain the national debt ? What about the 20% you left out of your math?

I was just trying to point out that the tax payers have more than enough to carry without adding all the people that enter this country illegally. If I am not mistaken the national debt in the 1960s was around 60 million and now its so high I don't think our great grandkids will even make a dent in it. If people want Government services they have to be willing to pay for them,and it seems that everyone has their hand out these days. Maybe the Government should be downsized ? We have a branch for just about everything now.:confused:

I would support a candidate who will: Acknowledge that the war was a mistake (when you're in a hole, for God's sake stop digging) Put an end to the failed Bush foreign policy of unilateralism and erratic sabre-rattling that has led to diminished U.S. influence around the world Apply pressure to Iraqi politicians by announcing and executing a withdrawal timeline for the bulk of U.S. forces (remaining forces tasked with hunting "terrorists") Use the full spectrum of U.S. diplomatic power (political, economic) to give Iraq's neighbors incentives to stop destabilizing the country
