Well if DoubleDuece was that close and didn't hear the coach using foul language, unbiased needs to redefined.

 

I don't know who the fan was, and it's very possible that he deserved to be tossed. I couldn't see him, but from the reaction of the bench it looked like something was certainly said by the fan. The coach, however, should be told to watch the language. To keep it in the locker room if that's how she gets her point across. You don't need that at a High School game from anyone. Players, coaches, or fans.

Like I stated in the other thread there was a Boone parent who let out a bomb, she said it very loud. Maybe some thought that was the coach.

I saw Ryle play earlier this year and am not surprised this happened at all. I missed most of it the night we played Ryle. I was watching the kids play, it was my daughter that brought the fans/parents to my attention.

 

I sat behind a few Ryle parents that were great, they asked about our kids and our school, this is the classic example of a few bad apples, just like Eric Stratton's speech in Animal House.

 

I can see going after the officials at times but the kids and coaches should always be off limits, especially if your intent is to disrupt. Get em out of the gym, they can know it all at home, they don't need to be around my kid, your kids or any of us!

More people should be thrown out and maybe some of this rude behavior would stop.

 

I agree 110% :thumb:, as a scorekeeper you hear all kinds of things directed towards players, coaches, and most of all officials. If the officials would take just two minutes and take care of the problems I think that these basketball games would'n be a little more fun to watch. And maybe we wouldn't have to listen to the ADULTS act like 3 year olds!

If all schools would install "noise barriers" between the stands and the floor, we wouldn't have a problem.

Officials have enough work to do on the floor and worrying about who or what is being said in a ball buster of a game is the least of their concerns. Game management is there to take care of unruly fans and did their job last night. I can say I never heard Coach Fookes say anything abusive or nasty. She is a fiery coach and that bothers some but I can say as a former male player that her intensity is what I love in a coach.

I agree with all of what you have said except who should take care of the problem...the officials are supposed to worry about what is going on on the floor. I think that the AD should take care of this. I know that he does at our school.

The ironic part is that the same schools who accept this behavior by not asking the adults to leave is the same school that would be suspending the students from school if they acted like the parents did in the stands.

Unfortunately, I think we will always have the stupidity and rudeness. Fans should cheer for their team and leave all the other stuff at the door.

I haven't yelled at an official in over 25 years when I was in my early 20's and didn't know better. I guess I wouldn't want them to come to my place of employment and tell me how to do my job.

Oh, and I am not a fan of the student sections that spend more time cheering "put downs" of the other team than of cheering for their own team.

I was a t a girls basketball game a very long time ago and after watching the three second rule not used. I started counting how long the same girl was staying in the lane. I counted to 6 three or four times and the person next to me, a former player was those refs either are cheating or they just don't care.

 

I then started counting out loud, so loud that the fans on the other side of the gym could here me. After counting to as high as seven the refs stopped the game and said if I hear anymore counting from this section I will throw you all out.

 

But the three second call was not missed the rest of the game.

Bingo my friend. I totally agree. Since I wasn't at the referenced game or observe this situation, I can't say whether it was justified, but I've observed plenty of behavior at other games that just cause me to shake my head and wonder who raised these people. If you can't just cheer your team in a positive manner, I think you should just stay home.
