Fans getting kicked out of games and such??

Featured Replies

Last night, two fans were thrown out of the Boone County/Ryle game. Both were behind the Boone County bench among the Ryle fans. I have been to a lot of games this year and I know this topic has been beaten to death, but why do parents and fans think that they have the right to belittle the referees, coaches and worst of all, other players during a game??

Believe me, I'm no saint. The folks in the 8th region know how critical I have been about their referees, but especially during this time of year, when teams may be playing their last game, can't people just refrain??

Sitting at the scorers table, you hear everything and if there was a broadcast going on, I would hope the game was run on a delay.

Can someone explain to me why people feel they have this right???

Why did the 2 get thrown out of the game? Was it toward kids, coaches, or officials or all of the above?

I am not sure why anyone would yell at KIDS. That to me is ridiculous, even if it is your own kid. Nothing but positive or encouraging words should be yelled at any KID on the floor. As for coaches, WHY yell at them during the game? Do you think that it is going to get your kid more playing time or get him to change his philosophy? Not going to happen.

Now the refs, that is a different story. I do my fair share of yelling at the refs. I am careful not to ever yell personal remarks or threatening remarks or belittle the refs but I do my fair share of critiquing their calls and maybe encouraging some calls that they need to make.

I heard it explained one time, that normal people can buy a ticket at Dr. Jekyll and before it's over, replace themselves with Mr. Hyde.

Most of us, have been both and not proud when it happens.

More people should be thrown out and maybe some of this rude behavior would stop.

Nell Fookes had the one thrown out for yelling at her about her use of profanity directed towards both her players and the officials. I witnessed first hand, the man in the stands behind her bench did nothing wrong. I think it is a joke that a coach can have someone removed on their own. I guess she is judge and jury in northern Ky. but none of her ranting has ever worked outside of here.

The two fans were from the opposing team and directing their language towards the opposing team from directly behind their bench. When rival teams play it is unfortunate that fans are so close to the opposing teams bench...especially when they can't control themselves.

I've heard a referee at a high school game call a fan a name (using a couple of real nasty words) over nothing. The fan said or did nothing out of line. Same ref was giving the ball to a 5th grade child on inbounds play at another game and while doing it turned around and cussed a woman in the stands. Now who should ask that ref to leave?

Whomever is in charge of the 5th grade league.

Then why did the gentleman look like he was proud of the fact that he was being escorted out??

If this is the case, it is a shame that the innocent fan was removed due to the coach not coaching her team. What is the phrase: "If you pay attention to the stands, it won't be long before you are in them..."

At the same time, profanity shouldn't be allowed to be used by anyone in the gym. There definitely are a lot of coaches that get away with more than I would allow......

It is interesting that there are two sides to this story being told on here.

Does the truth lie somewhere in between????? :sssh:

For reference he was a fan for the other team.

I sat across the aisle from the guy and 2 rows closer to the bench than he was. I heard no profanity from the coach. The guy was yelling at the coach the whole game, nothing new from him if you have been to any Ryle games. Every time she would say something to her players or the referees he would yell at her. Along with a woman seated in front of him.

When he started telling the coach that she was an idiot(repeatedly) she turned and said that they were the worst fans she had ever seen. He told her to be quite and then said the idiot comment again. That was the last straw for the coach, she then asked for the fan to be removed. By the way his friend, a woman seated in front of him was just as loud and should have been removed.

DoubleDuece is the "unbiased" person we needed in this discussion.

Well if DoubleDuece was that close and didn't hear the coach using foul language, unbiased needs to redefined.

I don't know who the fan was, and it's very possible that he deserved to be tossed. I couldn't see him, but from the reaction of the bench it looked like something was certainly said by the fan. The coach, however, should be told to watch the language. To keep it in the locker room if that's how she gets her point across. You don't need that at a High School game from anyone. Players, coaches, or fans.

from the Boone County/Ryle post.

I was exactly 4-5 feet away. That game was actually the first that I have seen Coach Fookes coach. (Sorry to say). We talked after the game. I'll have the audio on the show Saturday.

I will say that I do have to be "unbiased". I can't lean one way or another. So let me be perfectly clear, I'm not in either camp. I cover 30+ schools and apart from graduating from St. Henry and broadcasting games for Gallatin County over the past couple of years, I'm getting to know the rest. Just reporting what I saw and heard.

Ryle is a very young club. Their future is very bright. I talked to Coach Oliverio about that too.

I totally agree!!:thumb:
