February 25, 200818 yr Oh, and it might not be such a bad idea to ban all guns in Washington D.C. From what I've heard there is a lot of crime in that area. I'm kidding. I thought they already did that? Or was it just handguns?

February 25, 200818 yr Here are the things you must agree to when donating to Barack Obama (there is a check box that says you comply with all of these): 1. I am a United States citizen or a lawfully-admitted permanent resident. 2. I am at least 16 years old. 3. This contribution is not made from the general treasury funds of a corporation, labor organization or national bank. 4. This contribution is not made from the funds of a political action committee. 5. This contribution is not made from the treasury of an entity or person who is a federal contractor. 6. This contribution is not made from the funds of an individual registered as a federal lobbyist or a foreign agent, or an entity that is a federally registered lobbying firm or foreign agent. 7. The funds I am donating are not being provided to me by another person or entity for the purpose of making this contribution. Just some more information most of you don't want to hear. He has passed lobbyist rules & his rhetoric does match his actions. These are the same things you have to agree to to contribute to any campaign. This is not unique to Obama, and anyone can lie on these when they contribute to any candidate. This is really just a disclaimer to relieve the candidate of any liability if it is proven they received $ improperly. "I had no knowledge of that.:D"

I am not personally a federal government contractor (employees of federal contractors may contribute). This contribution will not be reimbursed by anyone else and will not cause my contributions to John McCain 2008 to exceed $2,300 per election. READ THEM BOTH CLOSELY!! NO MENTION OF LOBBYIST!!
February 25, 200818 yr I believe Sen. Obama supported the Wash DC ban on ALL guns. Google it and you'll find what I'm talking about. And if DC can ban all guns, then Chicago, Cinti, Louisville and the town you live in can do the same. So much for the constitutional right to own any gun. It will have been flushed down the toilet. And if you can do that to the 2nd amendment, then any other constitutional right is subject to the same treatment. Exactly! I could care less about propaganda from the Obama campaign site. Let's talk about voting record and legislation he has supported or opposed.
February 25, 200818 yr Obama: Said he finds it hard to find a rationale for having a 17-clip semiautomatic. Supports the gun ban in the nation's capital. Voted against the pro-gun legislation. (2004) Said he supports a national ban on concealed carry because the states that allow it are "threatening the safety of Illinois residents." (2004) Voted against letting people argue self-defense in court if charged with violating local weapons bans by using a gun in their home. (2004) Unsuccessfully sponsored limit of one handgun purchase per month. (2000) Has taken a strong position in favor of the Clinton semi-auto ban. Barack Obama's Gun-Related Votes: Supporting concealed carry for citizens - Anti-gun Banning many common semi-automatic firearms - Anti-gun Disallowing self-defense in towns where guns are banned - Anti-gun Imposing one handgun a month restrictions - Anti-gun Requiring lock up your safety trigger locks - Anti-gun Protecting gun dealers from frivolous lawsuits - Anti-gun Outlawing gun confiscations during a national emergency - Pro-gun Allowing retired police and military police carry concealed weapons - Pro-Gun Squelching the free speech rights of gun owners - Anti-gun Restricting the interstate sales of firearms - Anti-gun Repealing the gun ban in Washington, DC - Anti-gun

If you want to allow guns to flow freely with no background checks, zero regulations and very little safety regulations, I would say Obama is not your man. If you need an assault weapon to prepare & train your militia, he is also not your man. If you need an assault weapon, bazooka or rocket launcher to kill a deer or elk or elephant, he's probably not your man.
February 26, 200818 yr Obama and others assume that we will always have a government by the people, for the people and of the people. That's a bad assumption to make. If I had an assault rifle, it wouldn't be to hunt with. It wouldn't be to stop criminals who break into my home, though I would use it for that. It would be for one thing: to keep my government honest. Should the secret police ever come knocking on my door, I want them to fear me more than I fear them.

We have a civilian military so you think our military would attack itself. Does that really make any sense? We don't have mercenaries in our military, they are civilian volunteers.

A volunteer army could be more dangerous under a corrupt government than a conscripted army. That's how coups start.

The Second Amendment has nothing to do with the right to hunt (which is not a right at all but a privilege).

No need to interpret. While I disagree with it, it is my favorite 100% pro-gun view that I have heard.

What do you think of the German gun owners who objected to their government's confiscation of firearms? Just because somebody seems paranoid to you does not mean that somebody is not out to get them. Trusting that our government will be worthy of our trust 10, 20, or 100 years from now is extremely short sighted and that is what is at stake. Acquiescing to the slow confiscation or ban of an increasing array of guns means that those guns may not be available when they are most needed by your children or your great grandchildren.

Why can't some of you just accept the fact that Obama is not pro-gun and not for 2nd Amendment rights?

I just do not see assault rifles being a huge topic in the frame of the problems that we have in our country at this point. I prefer to think of the glass as "half full" instead of "half empty". I hope Obama becomes president but if he doesn't, I will rally around whoever is, to fix our nation.
