February 24, 200818 yr What I was mainly saying is that neither you, nor I, nor the media, REALLY know what the NFL scouts have seen or want, or think. It's a poker game, just like Herm Edwards said. So anything these scouts are saying, they don't mind being repeated. Think about that. That is true. However I would like to believe that if someone is willing to dish out so much money like they would on a QB they want to be a franchise QB. That they would want to know everything about them, and just completely know that, that person is worth the pick. So I think its very reasonable to believe that teams considering taking a QB in the 1st round. That they would look at the films very closely, and see what the person's strengths and weaknesses are, and see how that person's game would translate to the NFL game. So I guess it is just really a matter of opinion here. I believe that these NFL scouts or coaches would have looked at the film like you have said, but have came out with a different opinion about who is better. So that is really the thing that I was just commenting on, because the way you said it. It sounded like if you look at the film it is obvious who is better, and I just dont think that is true, because IMO the scouts have looked at the film, and yet don't agree with you. I will say this IMO I don't think Ryan is or should be ranked so far ahead of the other QB's.
February 24, 200818 yr ^ You're missing the real point. I understand what they said, and I don't doubt they have done their homework, and will continue to do so, until the end of April. That said, like I stated, I would bet my house, that there is a lot of sandbagging going on.
February 25, 200818 yr Bottom line is that it's a crapshoot when taking a QB in the NFL. The scouts spend way more time than any of us evaluating these guys and breaking them down. They might be right or we might be right. If I had to put my money on it then I would go with them because it's their full time job that they are trained to do. Woodson could end up the best QB in the draft before it's all over with as far as we know. Guys like Brady have shown that even the experts can be wrong but I don't think there is a huge gap between a Brohm and Woodson or Ryan. Usually in the draft there are several QB's projected to go pretty quick in the first round. Right now there is 1 QB that they are calling can't miss but not a top pick. I wouldn't be suprised to see Delaware's QB grow into the best QB of all of them. Who knows?
February 25, 200818 yr I know that Ryan isn't throwing at the combine, and with the way his day has gone, it's a good thing. He went from a guy that they said could shuffle in the pocket, to not making the board in any of the physical tests. Brohm proved otherwise.
February 25, 200818 yr I see Matt Ryan as a more mentally stable Ryan Leaf or Rex Grossman. I think his numbers speak for themselves, he didn't even have a 2 to 1 touchdown to interception ratio. That smells like trouble to me, because it's not like he played top 25 teams every week like oh, Andre Woodson. Sorry had to throw Andre in there, wont happen again in this rant..... The love affair with Matt is insane, he is decent at everything, but not really good or great at anything. I've always heard that the number of college starts can be a factor to how quickly the QB is ready for the NFL. It's 33 to what 22? And Brohm played plent his freshman year, even in tough situations. Brain Brohm is a much better prospect, at least he has the ceiling to become a very good quarterback, Matt Ryan can never be anything more than average, and i say the team that picks him, drafts another qb 3 years from now.
February 25, 200818 yr I still hope Brian somehow drops to the Vikings and enjoys a HOF career running play-action with AP, so maybe this is for the best.
February 25, 200818 yr ^ I have prayed for that. Dome team, winnable division, great running game, solid defense. Brian could become legendary in that scheme.
February 25, 200818 yr I'd like to see the Seahawks take Brian. Matt has maybe one year or so and it might be a good fit. Shaun loves the area and is building a state of the art home there. I do hope wherever he goes that he doesn't have to play much at first, that seems to hurt guys. I did a research on that and not many QBs are sucessful playing early? Tom Brady was one who was, but how many can you name that was "great" early? I hope he does well.

The last time you said someone could become legendary, it didn't work out that well for that person in McRoberts. Which I hope that don't happen to Brohm though because I actually like Brohm. :thumb:
February 26, 200818 yr The "expets" are saying that Ryan is the clearcut top QB in the draft and the dropoff to #2 is significant! Most drafts have a QB that is pretty close to #1 if not #1. This one has the potential to not even have a top 10 QB although I think Ryan will go top 10. The Falcons are in a pickle because I think they are so bad they would get a young QB killed but if they don't get one then it's Harrington or Red (if he comes back). I would be going after one of the Long boys if I were drafting high. As bad as it hurts the pocket book, the fans and the pride I am kind of excited that Brohm + Woodson are going to drop so much because I think they will have a chance to land on a couple of good teams instead of somebody like the Raiders or Falcons. I wouldn't be suprised at all to see the Bears take Brian which would work out nice for people that want to watch him play. Easy drive and cheap plane ticket:) I think there are going to be some nice RB's come out of this draft.
February 26, 200818 yr Mike Mayock, from the NFL network and a former NFL scout, compares Ryan with Roethlisberger, with a little less mobilty and overall strength- his movement in the pocket, keeping his eyes downfield while avoiding the rush, his arm strength, and his ability to make plays. He has Ryan #1 OVERALL. With that being said, Brohm will do very well as well; his accuracy and arm strength remind me of Joe Montana, only Brian's arm appears to be stronger. If he can remain calm and clutch, as he has always been, he will be big time and do all of KY proud.

Which I hope that don't happen to Brohm though because I actually like Brohm. :thumb: ....I may never live that down....That said, I said if McRoberts stayed four years at Duke, he would've been legendary, he screwed that up. Brian doesn't have the shortfall of brains in this case :thumb:
