It's showdown time! The one y'all been waiting for...NCC in the districts! Loser stays home! The biggest question for the HHS Hoop program is will the 6th man, STUDENT SECTION, show up? The boys have the ingredients to make a legitimate run at a title...the only thing missing is STUDENT SPIRIT! I'd like to see the SR's on the FB team lobby the school on Monday to "pack the house" early! Show 'em that "BLUEBIRD PRIDE" is more than just FB! :banana:

They (being the students) will show up, but they'll just be sitting down the entire time.

The best NewCath student section ever was 99-00 season when the Breds won all A state and the 9th. Blue and Gold took over every gym they went to and even made CovCath look bad in the region at Ryle!! Loud crazy and fun.

I know I have already beat the dead horse on this subject in that Holmes/Highlands thread but I would be thoroughly embarrassed if I was in that group that just sits there the entire game. Its like they got their state football title and nothing else matters. Nothing excites them unless it involves football. We shall see but I wouldnt be surprised if NCC's student section wins the battle in the stands and the Birds win the battle on the court.

I wish the the BB Birds all the best in the tournament. That said, you have to except this is a football school and community. Has been and always will be. I've been to swim meets, tennis matches, and baseball games where you could count on two hands the number of HHS student in attendance. Games are won on the court, not in the stands.

Willie is a basketball guy who experienced the hoops heyday in Fort Thomas. He has produced a quality product and deserves the support of the students and the community.

 

Reminds me of a city with a winning ballclub that is spoiled and causes the franchise to move out of town for non-support.

 

How many small towns in the state would be rabid over these Bluebirds?????

I probably get more excited for a successful Bluebird team than the student body does and I didn't even go to school there. That's O.K. if they don't show up, then maybe I'll get inside the gym Monday night before they start turning people away. I've always liked NCC too, so I'm just looking forward to a real good game. The Birds will go deeper into post-season play though than NCC if they get past them, so I ultimately would like to see Highlands take it, but not without a tough battle first :thumb:

I disagree, with the success of the Birds Basketball team this year as well as over the past 10 yrs there is no reason why those kids cant atleast cheer. IF they dont want to come then fine, stay home. But if they are going to come to the games and just sit there that is ridiculous. They are already there, how about somebody gets a little creative and creates some school spirit to create an advantage for their team? Maybe the administration should get involved as well and create some spirit. The chance to earn a berth in the sweet 16 doesnt come around every year and this is a good year for the Birds to possibly earn that.

 

I can think of a good cheer on Monday night that may stick the Breds pretty hard in the side.

I also disagree with "has been and always will be". The stand were usually packed and very rowdy in the day. I seem to remember a very large contigent of students. I remember a lot of the guys wearing cowboy hats and cheering a different four letter cheer than C-A-K-E. Memorie's not great but I believe it started with a T and maybe ended with a C? Whatever the case, I do remember packed houses and great student sections for Highlands basketball back in the day.

I'm sure the students will be there for a game against the Breds. The game should be played at NKU however. There's going to be fans that won't get in. Remember, the same two girls teams play right afterwards.

Back in the day...we had this little group supported by the administration called "Cheerleaders"? They went about the school raising awareness/spirit and getting the student body involved...pep rallies? Bon Fires? Posters throughout the school/locker room? Will the Pep Band be there? Will the "Dance team" be there? (they are worth the price of admission by themselves!) Hopefully the school is going ALL OUT for these two big contests! :banana:
