Coach Rosen was not there. Walton would have still probably lost, but maybe not by 27 points. The JV (coach) stepped up to coach the varsity. From this point on any chance Walton had was now gone. PITIFUL!

 

Totally agree with you, I have not been impressed with the JV or Freshman coaches at all. Seems that the different direction that the administration wanted should have included those 2 positions.

For the younger guards, Cheesmen and Ginn have done good in varsity games. They do good against the Williamstown's etc. but if you notice when Walton played SK and Holy Cross they got beat around, they need more time.

 

 

Please explain "against the Williamstown's, etc...". If my thinking is correct, neither had much of an impact on the game that was held at Williamstown. They might have scored 2 or 3 points each. The only thing I really remember is that Ginn tried to guard Stith and fouled out in about 5 minutes and Williamstown ran the same OB play for about 5 straight times because the youngsters couldn't figure it out. They will struggle against any varsity experience for the next couple of years. By their late soph or junior year, they could be a very good group though.

I think anyone would struggle against Stith, she is really good..

Parents look at the game thru mommy and daddy goggles. They don't always want to hear an unbiased opinion.

 

I doubt if any parent wants to hear someone bashing their kid. Especially a person who is supposedly "supporting" that program. Probably a wise move that you do sit alone.

Parents have been sitting in various places in the gym for more than the last 3 to 4 years that I have noticed. I choose not to sit next to certain people at games because they yell at the refs or their kid and even the coaches during the whole game and it gets old. It would be one thing to hear fans cheering for the team but now days all I seem to hear is complaining from parents and some fans and I choose not to sit near them and many are very free flowing and loud with their mouth.:scared:

I was at Williamstown game to watch Walton guards and the Cheeseman girl did not play much . I came to Ryle game to watch all the eigth graders in one setting and was impressed with all of them. Moss and Crittenden played well for Ryle and Cheeseman did a good job handling trap that other guards struggled with. They would be fun to see on one team together during summer months.

I agree with what you are saying. The Adults at games have loss sight of the big picture-- they should be the role models and teaching sportsmanship. Instead, the kids are hearing it and the coaches are having to put up with it. Why has it come to this?

There is a difference between bashing and the truth. In many Mommy and Daddy's eyes their kid does nothing wrong and it is always another player or the Coach's fault. I find it difficult to sit and listen to this and keep my mouth shut, so I sit by others who seem to see the game as a whole, not just one players part in it.

It is my understanding that the younger players (7th and 8th grade) play together after the season and during the summer. The continuation of playing will improve their skills and make them better players for the school team. Summer ball is where it all happens. While it is necessary to have leadership, these young girls have so much talent that they will win ballgames.

I will not argue that she is a loyal person. My grandmother is also a very loyal person, but in no way does that make her a great basketball coach. Not once in my post did I say that the JV coach was a bad person. All I'm saying is from what I've seen in the JV games is that her coaching abilities are very limited. As far as keeping to the varsity coaches game plan, I can see your point on that, since the varsity has been extremely successful this year.

Congrats to Coach Buerger and the JV squad for a 14-5 record--and by the way the team make up was 4 juniors, 1 sophomore and 2 freshmen--with 2-eighth graders and a 7th grader coming in mid-season.

the weak schedule played against other small schools where most of the opponents young talent is playing varsity. Nothing against other schools, but with the talented younger players WV has right now I think Stevie Wonder could of had a winning record for the WV JV.[/QUOTE]

 

 

 

KyRebel--Apparently you don't understand the scheduling limitations that a NCKC participant faces--at least 16-18 games are tied up in conference and district oppontents which does not leave much freedom for scheduling.
