February 17, 200818 yr Howard was just ridiculous. A bunch of us were sitting around watching it and were just cracking up every time they showed the Superman dunk. I saw an interview with him from after the contest and he said it would be tough to come up with much more to do for next year, so I guess it remains to be seen if he will be back. Just to give everyone an idea of just how sick Howard is, he petitioned the NBA to be able to use a 12 foot goal for the contest, which they denied. I think we have really reached the tip of the ice beg. There isn't much more he can do. He did a fantastic job being creative last night.

February 17, 200818 yr It's all about the props. What did the old guy tell Maximus in Gladiator? "Win the crowd and you'll win the slam dunk contest"....or something like that. Once he took his uniform off and had the Superman outfit on, it was over. He could have had a dunk that wasn't even a dunk and won....oh, wait, he did.
February 17, 200818 yr They are the only reason to watch the NBA on TNT! They both are hilarious! Barkley was on Letterman last night and it was a sight! I agree with you and the others. If I can stay up late and watch them on the postgame show, I do. They are hilarious. My favorite Chuck line: after watching highlights of Jose Calderon one night, he says, "I really like Jose Calderon. He's my second favorite Jose." Kenny says, "Who's your favorite?" Chuck says, "Jose Cuervo."
February 17, 200818 yr Howard really is just unbelievable. To be that big and still have that kind of athletic ability is just ridiculous. To compare someone of similar height and weight, can you imagine David Padget doing those dunks? :lol: He's also a really great guy and a good spokesman for the NBA which is what they need right now.
