Anybody Had Braces?

Featured Replies

Why don't you go with the braces that are clear and they come off when you eat and brush your teeth. I hear these are better. I can't remember what they are called, but, they are on tv sometimes. I had a friend that did this and loved it. They fit on all your teeth, then, they just pop out when you want them to.

Invisaligns, and he's already stated he's not a candidate.

So, I went to the dentist and orthodontist yesterday. The dentist was for a cleaning, but the ortho was because my mom thinks I need braces. There's one spot where my teeth are kinda crooked, but it's really not a big deal. She's all adamant about getting it fixed. So, honestly, how bad do braces suck?

I had them, and while they are not fun, it is worth it once it is all said and done. I am EXTREMELY happy I got mine, but my teeth were jacked up .

They weren't to painful it was just the fact of having braces that sucked. I had them for 2 years and wasn't very happy about it.

I had them for 2 1/2 years and no, they're not painful. Except for the first week. The first week they suck, because they cut up your mouth (that stops once your mouth adjusts). Other than that, I had only small amounts of pain due to the braces.

I had them for 4 years. They aren't all that bad, only the first two days. You won't be able to comfortably eat solid foods. Tightening days aren't too hot either.

The tightening days do stink, but they're not terrible. Just can't eat anything hard that day. I usually stopped and got a roast beef sandwich on the tightening days...probably not the best choice considering I had to clean my teeth for hours after that though lol.

Dude...

I'm thinking that technology has improved since the early 70s. I was able to get my "facebow hours" in when I slept. Good for my teeth, bad for my hair.

I had them for 2 1/2 years and they arent too bad at all. Taking them off and the adjusting was the worst part for me.

What happens when it's time for them to come off?

They take them off.

What do you mean?

 He said one of the bad parts was getting them off...I wondered why.

I wore a mouthful of metal for almost 5 years. Yes, it sucked but now as an adult, the feature I am most complimented on is my smile. When I took my daughter to her first orthodontist appointment, two of the techs came in to see my teeth. It was completely worth it. When they take them off, they cut the wires in between and the brackets pop right off. You might have a little cement residue left, but it comes off easily, too. Getting them removed is a breeze.

Oh, if you have wraparounds on any teeth, especially the bottom, they are painful coming off. It almost feels like they are pulling your teeth out since they are wrapped around the tooth. Your mouth would be a little sore the rest of the day, but its not that bad. The wraparound thing is the only bad thing I remember about it.

I'll just add, if required wear your headgear, wear it.. Also, the ladies notice nice straight teeth and the pretty smile they make possible. I can't count the times I've been complimented on my smile and/or teeth by females!

 Are you saying it hurts your credibility? It must be hard to maintain when your slamming The Eagles, sipping a Black and Tan, sneering with your snaggle tooth. :D

:lol::lol:
