February 16, 200818 yr I just wanted to ask if anyone else is sick of espn broadcaster Jimmy Dykes and his "pound your chest opportunity" line of crap :irked:, is this all this idiot can say? This is great, a broadcaster promoting "pound your chest" and knowing that he has kids listening that could be influenced by this "all me" attitude and sicking gesture -- I guess that he is a Noah (former Gator) fan . Another thing that gets me is that when he speaks of a former U.K. players (like Pelphry today), he will always say he was a great player/competitor that "I" coached. I realize that he was on the staff......as an assistant, not the head coach, he rarely if ever mentions that. Jimmy Dykes imo has way too much of an "I" or "Me" complex. I just had to vent, is there anyone else that cannot stand listening to this guy? I feel sure that he may be calling the U.K. game on Tues. night, if so it is radio broadcast while watching again for this fan .
February 17, 200818 yr My favorite is his... "Head hunter screen". :thumb: What about the "50, 50" balls!
February 17, 200818 yr Author My favorite is his... "Head hunter screen". High School Harry pass. (that one is pretty good but he is just too arrogant form my blood.)
February 17, 200818 yr I don't think the Cats have won a game he has done yet, have they? If he's doing the next game it could be a bad omen.
February 17, 200818 yr I think the worst was 1 game when he said on 3 different occasions that UK was in a triangle and 2, when it was obviouisly man. His basketball terminology is very unusul as well!
February 17, 200818 yr I agree with you OR, he does talk a lot about "ME". The "pound your chest" statement may not be the best choice of words but everyone knows what he's talking about when he says it (maybe that's the unfortunate thing). As far as his game analysis, he's pretty good because he obviously knows the game and uses a lot of "coaching phrases" (the "head hunter screens" and "50-50 balls" as was mentioned) but I think he's just trying to stand out with his own "catch phrases" like Dicky V and the others.
February 18, 200818 yr Sometimes I think he's pretty funny and other times it is really annoying. That reminded me of a quote he had and I had to comfirm it with a friend because I could remember it myself. He was doing a game last year and someone lost the ball on a turnover. He said that you have to take care of the ball, you have to protect the ball. "You have to protect that ball like it's your little sister at one of your frat parties." Ok, maybe he tries a little to hard but it was kind of funny.
February 18, 200818 yr Did you hear him talking during one of UK's games about "shadow defense"? He referred to it several times and finally explained what it was. It was simple help-side defense, but he made it sound like some new fancy way of guarding someone!

Vitale has "catch phrases or signature calls" but his promote the game and "Team" usually, even when he goes on about a individual player he will mention the importance of "team".
February 18, 200818 yr He did the Tennessee game. You sure? I thought Kellogg did that game. Either way I could take JD or leave him.
