February 16, 200818 yr I became aware of BGP when they came to our grade school , St Therese in Southgate during the Mustang Classic the annual basketball tournament the schools athletic club puts on . Some one from the website (The Guru maybe ) took pictures during the tournament and posted them on the site . I remember a big banner hanging in the gym touting the site and I joined about a year later . WOW I forgot all about that. I think that was when I first took a look at BGP because a pic of my brother was posted and a story about his team. Go Mustangs LOL Can we still find the Mustang classic post on BGP somewhere?

February 16, 200818 yr We must not forget that dark day years ago, when the civil war broke out on BGP between TheGuru and his Gurunation and Rockmom and her Chicknation. It was a rough time, with people not knowing which side to join.... None could have forseen the rise of PepRock and his Burnination... :fire: :lol: The Chicks were ruthless.:scared:

How long did it take to go from beginning the project to actually having the site up and running? What has been the biggest pleasant surprise and biggest disappointment with this site?
February 16, 200818 yr Kudos to Guru and the original members/mods that got this site going. :ylsuper: I am going on my 3rd year now and needless to say (by the # of my post) I greatly enjoy it. I originally joined to support my h.s. alma mater some and talk some college sports. I soon found out that by far the best thing about BGP is the members, the caring about each other on here is amazing. I have made some very good friends on this site since joining. This has been said over and over again but imo it cannot imo be said enough. ......... BGP is "Family", we all will go at it over sports and other issues but when it comes to the things that "Really Matter" in life we are one.:thumb:

Since 2001... Since I have joined I have lived at like 6 different addresses.
February 16, 200818 yr I can't remember how long I've been here but it's been a long time. I was even a moderator way back in the early days. I remember joining to try to get the word out on a couple of guys that played at my high school in smalltown Eastern KY. They both ended up going D1 and one is now a G.A. for the football team at UK. I also remember winning the first football contest and being put into some kind of hall of fame way back when. It's funny how this thing has gone from being a resource to get kids name out to really feeling like a family. It's really been a pleasure to be a part of the site and the friendships that have been made. I know personally there are a lot of people on here that have taken care of each other. I can still remember a long while back when we lost our first baby the support I got on here and now I have two little one's running around the house (girl 4 and boy 1). Time flies when you are having fun I guess. I often have wondered how many hours I have spent of my life on this site. I'm sure it's hurt production some but it's been worth every second of it. I think it's also funny thinking back on all the different disputes, scandals (cough cough Cheer) , Johnny's many women problems etc. The thing that makes it so real is the posters that were young graduating, getting married, having kids and we've even lost a few great members. It sure has been great and I appreciate the work that has gone into it!

I hired someone that had experience with forums and was also an ISP. 2. Two weeks max. 3. Pleasant surprise is I actually make money now vs. losing money. However, I didn't start BGP with the intention of making money, I started it as a fan site and it has taken on a life of its own. 4. Disappointment? I don't know that I would call it a disappointment, but the down side to BGP is the amount of time and resources that have to go into maintaining BGP. Our mod staff works around the clock cleaning up one problem after another and they deserve a huge pat on the back.
