Hundley is another case of wanting their kid to play for a very good program and get exposure. Worked out pretty well. I have to wonder if things would have been the same at Dunbar.

It's like I said. All the great programs are going to get transfers, and they are usually going to be good ones. SC has shown they can get kids to the next level, so they are going to keep getting players like that.

It likely helped Jones in his development and exposure. Exposure is a pretty big part of it when it comes to Mr. Basketball

Like I said, I simply remarked that there was some controversy around the program at that time. You, as a newbie on the "Red Heat" bandwagon, chose to take offense.

Mason Co. and Scott Co. have the two best basketball programs in the state in my opinion.

Best middle school program year in year out is Lexington Catholic, which has much to do with their consistent success at the high school level over the last 15 years or so.

Lex cath has the best ENTIRE basketball program, having a top 10 boys team every year, along with a top 3 girls team every year.

LCA has a strong all 'A' team playing in the toughest region in the state

Jones was a good player before he went to Scott Co.

I am somewhat new to being an SC follower. I dont know if that is a shot at me jumping on a bandwagon of sorts, but I have some pretty good reasons for becoming an SC follower.

 

As for taking offense, sometimes the continual shots from the same folks gets a bit tiresome. The fact that it was you made it that much more likely for me to say something.

What shots did I take? I didn't accuse anyone of anything. I simply noted, correctly so, that there was some controversy around the program at one time.

 

Even when I compliment Scott County, I get accused of taking shots at them ... frankly, I'm tired of it.

I'll just say there is going to be controversy around most any good program. The eyes are always on them and when the slightest thing happens it is going to get blown up. Those fans have to be ready for accusations and the attention. Those on the other side have to be ready for the fans to take up for their team or simply stay out.

Definitely have to agree with this one. I have seen Lexington Catholic's Middle School program firsthand and they easily have been the best middle school team that I was fortunate enough to witness over the last 3 years. Lexington Catholic will continue to dominate the top 3 of the state for years to come so if they aren't considered the best program now, they will be considered the best program in 5 years.:irked:

I rarely blow our own horn but I really do think that we (Brossart) go the extra mile to be a COMPLETE program, that represents our school to the best of our ability and serves the student/athletes who represent us, while operating in a first-class, above board manner.

 

I think that a lot of things go into the definition of PROGRAM, besides wins and losses and who has the superior players.

 

Tradition - the ability to compete and succeed year in and year out.

 

Superior Coaching - Coaches who get the most out of what they have to work with and work hard to put their players in a position to win. Who aren't afraid of miles to scout and the hours it takes to break down film, and devise a game plan.

 

Quality Kids - Players who excel in the classroom, on the hardwood, and in the community. Kids who are a pleasure to be around and make your job easy and enjoyable.

 

Challenging Schedule - Knowing your talent base and putting your team in a situation in which they are both challenged and in which they can succeed.

 

Exposure - Playing in out of town tournaments/showcases/team camps that provide a well-rounded overall experience for your team.

 

Pride - Doing the little extra things that make your program special. Media Guides, website, radio/internet broadcasts, theme nights, open practices (Exhibitions), youth camps, Meet-the-team nights, coaches clinics, community interactions, quality grade school league programs etc., etc., etc..

 

There are many good programs out there who don't have the resources to do all of the above, but provide their players with positive experiences that they cherish for the rest of their lives.

 

To be a top PROGRAM in the state is to be a complete package of all of the above.
