Where has luck come in?

A 6-8 sophomore that's already committed to Kentucky transfers in because his father lost his job in Ashland and had to move to the Lexington area.

 

If that isn't luck, we really have something to talk about.

You think he randomly landed in Scott Co? It's more about SC being a GOOD program, than a LUCKY program that he ended up there. He very well could have been at Catholic or any of the other schools in the city. Because SC is "good" is how he ended up there. Nothing to do with luck really.

I said nothing about Scott's attractiveness as a program. But unless they had something to do with the Eutons' move, then yes, it's luck that he's dropping into their lap.

The company that closed, Woolpert, had offices in Cincy, Orlando, Raleigh, etc. What is to stop them from moving to NOKY and having him work in Cincy and let Euton go to one of those schools? Wouldnt that be the easy thing since they have an office up there? Instead he decides to change companies. Luck? Not quite. The SC program drew them there.

No one denies that Scott County has an attractive program ... their propensity to gain high-profile transfers speaks loudly to that point.

 

But the fact that Clay Euton lost his job and was looking to move ... yes, that's plain good luck for the Cardinals. And I suspect that UK was just as much a lure to the Lexington area as Scott's program was.

So why not Catholic, LCA, or Dunbar since daddy will be working in Lexington anyway? Euton could go to any of those schools and be the number 1 option from day one. Not necessarily going to be the case at SC.

Once again, I'm not talking about Scott's program and comparing them to the others in the area. You're missing my point.

I know what point you're trying to make. None of my comments had anything to do with that aspect of the transfer.

 

And I still suspect the UK connection has more to do with the move than anything else. The family will already be there when he joins the UK program.

I'd say it definitely does. Could the UK staff have directed him to SC? Interesting thought. Discuss...

I think the point is that, for Scott Co. the transfer of Dakotah is quite fortuitous as it gives them a very dominating front line, one that was already quite impressive before hand. While the program's prestige probably helps in the drawing process, it is lucky for them to have a player of that caliber land in their laps. Just as if Lex Cath, Dunbar, Madison Central, etc. were to have had him suddenly transfer there it would be quite lucky and by chance that they happened to land him.

Right now they are still the champs. :thumb: Nobody has been more dominant than Scott Co. in the last 10 years. The numbers dont lie. No team is going to win it every year.

What connection does UK have to any of these schools especially Scott County? LexCath has had several kids of previous coaches go there, Mumme, Pitino, and Tubby but I'm not aware of any going to Scott County.
