February 13, 200818 yr I don't see the supers voting for whoever is behind in the regular delegates. I would hope not. It would be a disgrace if the American Democrats voted for Obama, but the supers put Hillary in. As for the whole issue of superdelegates, I can't really understand how they are fair. Why are the "superdelegates" different from a regular citizen? Shouldn't they have to vote in their state primary like all other citizens?

February 13, 200818 yr Bill Clinton's 1992 campaign manager, former chairman of the DNC, and current superdelegate David Wilhelm supports Obama.
February 14, 200818 yr Hillary is going to fight to get the Florida and Michigan delegates counted in an obvious sign of desparation. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23153925
February 14, 200818 yr It is a hold-over from the time when party chiefs used to pick the candidate. Understood. I just do see the equality in it. Of course, maybe I'm not supposed to see the equality in it!
February 14, 200818 yr Hillary is going to fight to get the Florida and Michigan delegates counted in an obvious sign of desparation. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23153925 I fully expect her to get her way with these two states but don't see how you can ask candidates to not campaign in these states, not going to count the delegates and then change the rules in midstream after the race has been ran. It seems to me that they run the risk of alienating a bunch of Obama supporters if she wins because of the Florida and Michigan delegates give her the win after Obama was asked to not campaign in those states. Remember while it is not considered campaigning by the Hillary camp, Bill spent time "speaking" in Florida before the race.
February 14, 200818 yr I don't believe the superdelegates will want to chance splintering the party. I believe they will go with the candidate with the most delegates. You do realize that the person with the most delegates may not be the person with the most popular vote. Be interesting to see what happens if that holds to be true. Remember in 2000, the Dems railed on the election process when Gore had the most popular vote but GW had the highest delegate count.
February 14, 200818 yr Hillary is going to fight to get the Florida and Michigan delegates counted in an obvious sign of desparation. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23153925 I think this really speaks to her character. Winning is more important than following rules. I don't see anyway that they can allow those delegate votes to count. If the candidates had known they would count, they surely would have campaigned differently in those states.
February 14, 200818 yr If the DNC makes FL and MI count then they will have to do another primary b/c Obama didn't campaign in FL. That will cost too much money for a general primary election and a caucus favors Obama. I don't see the DNC screwing around with this. Obama has the momentum and Clinton needs to win the last stated or she's done for. The party knows that there's a movement building with Obama and they'll let things play out.

Yes I realize that but I think most people in this case will accept the delegate count, not the popular count.

I don't believe Obama was even on the ballot in Michigan, was he?

I think if they allow this and Hillary wins the nomination, it is the ONLY chance the Republicans will have in November as many dems will stay home.
February 14, 200818 yr I don't believe Obama was even on the ballot in Michigan, was he? No, he wasn't on the ballot & didn't campaign in Florida. The results cannot be counted since he wasn't on the ballot (MI) and didn't campaign. So, those would favor Clinton since her name is known more than Obama's. He must campaign to get votes & his name/message known. While I am a dem & respect Clinton (but support Obama), I will never ever be in favor of agreeing to certain rules, then see things aren't going your way, so you want to change the rules.

I'd vote for Clinton if I had to but Obama is the best bet to win.
February 14, 200818 yr Obama will win the popular vote AND the delegate vote before the tallying of the superdelegates... at this point it's a matter of margin. But no matter what that margin is, the super delegates will still decide this.
