Good win for the Indians, but can't take too much pride in the win because Highlands did play w/o thier two best.

Mcgraw has been facing back problems all year. He almost didn't play at all this year.

 

As to the game, I wouldn't think this loss really matters to Highlands. They played without Mcgraw and still only lost by 6. Kudos to the other Bluebird players.

Those must be sever back problems to nearly give up your HS basketball career.

I'm thinking that Willie's saving these guys for later on down the road. These games really don't mean squat now. We saw what the Birds were made of against the Bulldogs and I believe that he'll bring THAT team + Simpson to the table come tournament time and Highlands will fight this thing to the finish with Holmes again for the prize. I don't think that Boone and CovCath can play with the same intensity that The Bulldogs and The Birds are capable of. Highlands is the only team that can stand in the Dawgs way. Round 2 should be wild, but I think ultimately Holmes' bench will tell the tale.

Congrats to Zach Lother for his first varsity double digit night (many more to come!). I believe Mr. Grote has hit double digits previously...but congrats to him also! And Tyler "Baby Shaq" Grubs with a double digit rebounding effort...excellent! Now let's get over the hump and get some W's!! More growth and seasoning for the young Bird's...will pay off down the line! Did HC have a cheerleader dressed as an Indian Squaw? I always thought that was neat...back in the day!

Unreal about McGraw. He is one tough hombre.

From what I understand, he can not play back to back games.

He may be the best player in region when healthy. Good size, can do a little of everything...his physicality sets him apart from other players in the region.

McGraw could have been a Division 1 football prospect if he doesnt injure his back, he had that much potential. He is doing all he can this year to help the Birds and I am sure it is much tougher than we all think. The fact of the matter is he is fun to watch and has proven to many he can ball with the best.

 

Sophomores are really getting some varsity minutes it looks like. How about the Juniors? Did any see the floor last night?

Not sure about "tired legs" but certainly with "warm bodies" as HHS was apparently minus McGraw,Simpson, and Kowolonek. Oh well, maybe they'll meet these three in the regional...............or not.

Take away McGraw, Kowolonek, and Simpson and the Bluebirds are no longer special. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out come district and regional time. Highlands is good enough to win the region with these guys, but bad enough they can lose early in the districts without them.

 

As for Holy Cross, it is nice to see someone else lead them besides Sorrell. The Indians are not a deep team and their currently running on fumes. That being said, their is no doubt in my mind they can still beat a team like Cov. Cath.

Hmmm.. well with that said.. they were beating when they played them, but ran out of gas. I think not a chance is a little much. But we'll see in first round of districts.:thumb:
