Unfortunately, its not your opinion nor my opinion that counts. It is the opinion of college coaches. At this point, Hood has several high-major offers from schools in the SEC and other major conferences including Florida and Duke showing strong interest. Jenkins already has some offers from high and mid-majors too and could commit this weekend in Wisconsin. I would guess that's the real goal of any high school player is to get to the next level and have the opportunity to get a quality college education at no cost.

I hope each and everyone on the list the same opportunity.

James Strange - Pineville

He has been a starter at a pretty solid Pineville program since he was in 8th grade. The kid is super talented and should be considered one of the best if not the best junior in the 13th region.

Depending on how next year goes, he might graduate Pineville's winningest player.

How is Hood not the best Jr. in the state? He has Major Div 1 coaches flying in to see him. Taking nothing away from Ferguson as he is a great scorer but Hood seems to be the total package.

It probably depends on how you define things. If you are going to say who is the best prospect I believe you would say Hood. If your going to say who is the best player, then that is definitly debatable.

Ive seen Phares, Ferguson, the Faulkner boys, and Ballou and I think all are pretty good players. The only one Ive seen lately is Phares, and last Tuesday when I saw him against Bryan Station he was dominant.

With regards to the poster talking about Louisville players getting love, I will honestly say this. There are some players (juniors) in Louisville and Lexington that would absolutely put up some great numbers in some of the lower regions.

Some of these players are even current role players or non-starters. This is not a knock on the lower rated regions, but a testament to how difficult it is to make a name for yourself in a pwer region.

A player like Phares who is just now getting some recognition could perhaps have dominated in the mountain regions as early as an eighth grader or frosh. Take a player like Penny, who is a 6-4 junior, place him in the 11th and you may not even know who is until now with the 11th being so much tougher than the 8th.

A player that averages 18 a game on a top 20 team in the 7th or 11th could average 30+ for an average team in a weaker region since he will end up being the main scoring threat against weaker comp. Again, not a knock, just reality.

Place Hood, Jenkins, and Phares on different average teams in any one weaker region and all of sudden you could have a different team favored to win that region.

Some top players in Louisville's junior class (in any order):

Dayvon Slone - Waggener

CJ Mack - Fairdale

Wes Cox - Ballard

Ridge Wilson - Central

Paul Bunton - Ballard (transfer)

That would mean then that the player who is scoring thirty in the weaker region would average 18 in the 7th and 11th and be considered as good as the junior's there that are doing so!:thumb: Not a knock, just reality!

Patrick Nerl--Campbell County?

Not necessarily.

Not necessarily.

That could be said for the opposite also.

True, but it does not change how the majority of hoops followers in Kentucky believe. There is a reason four-year starters and 2,000 point scorers in Lexington and Louisville are extremely rare. Even more rare are 8th grade varsity players.

The majority believed that Lofton was not the D1 player that he turned out to be, so the majority can be wrong.

In that case, there are potentially 20 or more Lofton type players in Kentucky's 2009 class. Which one does Tennessee take?

Who are the 20 that you could really say have the potential of Lofton. I know and have saw almost every junior in Ky play numerous times and I cant even come close to 20. I also know that all these posts are because you don't like the fact that people are saying Ferguson is right there at the top and comparing him to Lofton. He has played with and against the three or four top juniors in the state, with exception to Hood and is comparable to any of them. He still puts up big numbers of the summer, and that is not weak lower region competition. Bottom line is he is a player and deserve's to be up there at the top with them. Like you said college coaches know and his list of suitor's has exploded in last couple month's. I am sure they are not contacting him just to be nice, or because they have nothing else to do.

You ought to be happy for him and promote him same as the rest because he does live in Ky you know, and just like them his chances of playing D1 ball are exceptional.

Hopefully an offer will be extended sometime down the road. I do think the '09 class is shaping up to be a very solid class.

Ferguson will be one of the top players in the 16th region next year but not a Mr. Basketball Candidate.

Was the Ferguson kid insturmental in a loss of your favorite team or did he just do you some kind of harm? I noticed that on other threads you for no apparent reason begin to put down Ferguson as tho he is a subpar player. You also didn't answer wheather you had ever seen him play.
