whodey Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 Im hearing all kinds of different scenarios, and the amount of snow we will get. Anyone care to express their opinion. I think here in Fort Thomas we will get at most 3 inches, channel 12 is predicting 2-4 and we are usually in the middle to lower end. (Hopefully we dont start talking about pizza like the other weather thread)
PutMeInCoach Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 I heard nothing about this. When is the snow supposed to start?
TheDeuce Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 I doubt we'll get any here in L'ville, and if we do, it won't be enough to amount to anything.
whodey Posted February 11, 2008 Author Posted February 11, 2008 I heard nothing about this. When is the snow supposed to start? Monday night around 7. It is suppose to be very heavy at times This is posted by A channel 12 forecaster on there website "Winter Storm Watches are up for a good chunk of the area Monday night into Tuesday. Low pressure is forecast to develop Monday in Texas and race our way by Tuesday morning. Moisture surging ahead of this low will result in snow breaking out sometime after 7PM Monday night. The snow may come down heavy for several hours on Monday night with several inches of accumulation possible. The models are showing around 3 inches for Cincinnati. After this, warmer air aloft will begin to move in changing the snow over to sleet and freezing rain. Now, the strength of the low and its final track will determine how much warm air at the surface makes it up here. THIS IS HUGE! If not a lot of warm air movement takes place at the surface into our area, we may continue with a prolonged period of freezing rain on top of a few inches of snow! There could be significant icing problems. However, if the low is stronger or moves more to the west, we would warm enough to change to plain rain by mid morning Monday. At any rate, things will get messy Monday night into the early part of Tuesday. How messy depends on the details which are too early to determine."
NobizLikeShowbiz Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 Looks like it's going to get nasty here in NKY tomorrow night.

sportsfan41 Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 So let's talk pizza now, whodey. What are your thoughts? So ironic, just put one in the oven before getting on here.
whodey Posted February 11, 2008 Author Posted February 11, 2008 So ironic, just put one in the oven before getting on here. Is it Chicago or New York stlye? but in all seriousness the models are showing readings of 8 inches of snow depending on the amount of warm air that pushes above the cold artic air

ladiesbballcoach Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080211/NEWS01/302110021 One of the worst storms this winter – if not the worst - should hit Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky about 8 or 9 p.m. tonight, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington. A winter storm warning will go into effect at 7 p.m. tonight until noon Tuesday for Hamilton and Clermont counties in Ohio and Boone, Kenton, Grant and Campbell counties in Kentucky, she said. Three to five inches of snow and ice – mostly snow - are expected in those areas, she said. North of Cincinnati in Butler and Warren counties, as much as four to six or even seven inches of snow and ice could fall, she said. In those areas, the winter storm warning will extend until 7 p.m. Tuesday. Snow will start falling all over the region about 8 to 9 p.m. tonight and continue past midnight, she said. Freezing rain and sleet will mix in, turning morning rush hour traffic into a mess. The low overnight will be 20 degrees. Overnight in all, two to four inches of snow and sleet are expected to accumulate, as well as up to one-quarter of an inch of ice.
RockPride Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 I doubt we'll get any here in L'ville, and if we do, it won't be enough to amount to anything. I concur....a big to do, people will go get milk, and such...then nothing at all really.
RockPride Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 Whats the difference, and 8 inches would be awesome, I'm off on Tuesdays and I'd say classes would likely be cancelled that day too. A huge, HUGE difference..
oldrambler Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 Our area is predicted to have 1-2" of snow tonight, then freezing rain Tues. morning before changing to all rain. The way that I see it Krogers and some other grocery stores are a little down on sales so they are behind the forecast . Forecast a single snowflake around here and that turns into an all out panic and people rush to the grocery stores thinking they will not be able to get out for weeks.
