LRCW Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 I think this was the final score. I'm not 100 % sure though. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong. Fairview lead after one quarter 18-16, and the game was tied at 32 at the half. Rose Hill seemed a little lethargic, and couldn't seem to shake the Eagles until they unleashed their little spark plug. I give my Player of the Game award to little Johnny Bush. That kid was everywhere tonight. I think he may have been cloned, because it sure seemed like there was 3 of him out there at times tonight. I can't begin to count how many deflections he had tonight, and there were at least 3 times where he just picked the pocket of a Fairview guard and went down and scored. That young man has more energy than the Energizer Bunny. It was good to sit with my buddies on the floor again, and it was an honor to have Scooterbob join us. Rose Hill is undefeated when I'm in attendance. I know if I were Coach Fraley I would make sure I had a free pass for the district and regional tournament. Even Old Shooter looked good tonight. He dresses up pretty well. He was hitting me up for some free BGP wear. I think he was jealous of my hooded sweatshirt I was sporting tonight.
Dan Tanna Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 Another good win for this young group of Royals. The Eagles took the fight too them early, but Rose Hill just wore them out. The Eagles were dragging by the 4th quarter. That Rose Hill press sure does wear those teams down. I agree with LRCW. That young Bush boy was who got Rose Hill going early in the 3rd. He may be the smallest kid on the court, but I'd put his heart up against anybody in the region. He's one hard nosed ballplayer. Speaking of you guys sitting on the floor, I don't know what you did, but you sure seemed to have gotten into the head of that Greenhill official. He seemed to be taunting you guys as he left the floor at halftime. That might have been the most unprofessional thing I've seen from an official in the 16th region. Other than that I thought the officials did a pretty good job other than all of the jersey grabbing and walks they missed. Even this blind old man saw those from the top row of the bleachers. I know it's tough being an official, and these guys are doing their best, but they had to see those jerseys being grabbed.
Dan Tanna Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 Fairview wants to win. Fairview by 2. Before anybody gets on Ms. Liberty about her pick, I think I might have heard Coach Cooksey tell one of his assistants tonight that he didn't want to win. :D Just kidding Ms. Liberty. I hope to see your Elliott County boys in the finals.
Rickyp Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 I saw several BGP personalities in attendance tonight. Bush was absolutely the mvp of this game. Also Alex Malloy played very well tonight.
Dan Tanna Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 I must say that Coach Cooksey must have gotten an awfully good scouting report from the Boyd County-Rose Hill game. He certainly knew to press those 8th and 9th graders from Rose Hill at the end of the game to get the score back to respectability.
duck1220 Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 It's a good thing that I didn't have a Diet Pepsi on this one. I'll need the one Spindoc owes me to wash down all the eagle, or should I say crow? I think Fairview is 0-7 in the games I have picked them.:creepy::scared: I'm not changing horses in mid-stream! Fairview over Ashland in the District and Fairview wins the next RH re-match in the final.:scared:
oldrambler Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 Congrats to the Royals on the win over Fairview tonight. This is shaping up more and more to be one heck of a 64th district tourney and especially a great 16th regional tournament. :thumb:

Kiss of death I say. I sure was thankful to make it out to the game tonight. I was very moved by the senior salute to all the seniors but especially for the family of the Garnes boy. It'll seem odd not to see his blanket on that chair next season. I got to be incognito and sat on the Fairview side and I got there fairly early but the Rose Hill side was already full except for one spot at the top, and with this gigantic big toe, I sat a bit lower on the visitor side. Once again, congratulations to all of the seniors, especially the Arthur boy. He sure can guard you. I sure enjoy watching Mr. Jackson elevate above the crowd to rake rebounds from the sky. And I don't remember the # of the Eagle, but he luckily got a foul on Mr. Jackson right before he was getting ready to be dunked over. Solid scoring again from Mr. Euton. He got alot of point blank looks. I think this could have been a precursor for the district final. Wonderful high school atmosphere! I look forward to getting to see the Ashland game on Tuesday at Russell if I'm able. If things don't change soon for the Tomcats, they may get run out of that gymnasium. Good luck to the Royals the rest of the season! Looking like the heavyweight champ in this district. Question is,,,Are there any contenders? Only in America, baby!
spindoc Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 Hey, I nearly forgot to mention that I thought that the officiating was pretty even. They let the kids play pretty much. I've seen 3 games this season with Greenspan officiating and he hasn't called pulling on jerseys once that I recall. That's consistency!

Greenspan? I thought he was the former Federal Reserve Chairman. I told the guys I was sitting with that when Rose Hill's fans come out that they may have the biggest home court advantage around. The gym is intimate and the Rose Hill students have become very vocal. I have an impression for you guys. Here goes, guess who this is :thumb:

Johnny Bush was player of the game tonight. He was giving the guards of Fairview fits tonight. He even had several rebounds. The Royals turned it up in the second half. Give the Eagles credit they played with the Royals for two and a half quarters. Jackson and Euton played their usual with their rebounding and scoring. And as for hitting up LRCW for BGP wear that is true. He looked very preppy in his hoodie. He and spindoc must have went to BW3 before the game. I didn't see any hotdogs or popcorn tonight. I am glad that scooterbob was there to keep that bunch(RickyP,LRCW,spindoc, and Jed) from being tossed from the game. I also thought that the announcer did a great job.
CountyPride Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 Congrats to the Royals. This was a very solid win for the Royals.
spindoc Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 Greenspan? I thought he was the former Federal Reserve Chairman. I don't know what that boy's name is. All this old codger can make out of the fracas is Green-blah! So what is the name of that cat?
Rickyp Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 I also thought that the announcer did a great job. Man how did I forget the PA man. I was a little suprised that he was that good. Maybe he should consider taking it up on a full time basis. I think Fairview matches up very well with Rose Hill so this is very good win. On the officiating how can you not see it when someone basically gets undressed on an inbounds play. I can see missing walks, block/charges, and over the backs but on a dead ball situation I just don't see how you can miss it when a players jersey is stretch out bigger than LRCW's hoodie.
