Mr. Athletics
The person behind the microphone who announces your game can really add to the "home" atmosphere. Good ones make the game more exciting. Bad ones are out there too. Most of these people are volunteers. The best I have heard is David Morris of Gallatin County. He is a true professional and volunteers for both the boys and girls programs. Any others worth mentioning out there?

Sonny Crockett
I was at a Campbell County girls basketball game and the announcer was okay, but it was way too loud. Someone please make a suggestion to them to turn it down a little!
imo
Sonny Crockett....you are so right!!!!!!! I was there for a game and was wishing I brought ear-plugs. I also didn't need him to explain after every "jump-ball" why the ball was being given to the team it was being given to......."due to the alternate possession rule Campbell County will in-bounds the ball". I think most people understand the purpose of the possession arrow with out being told over and over during the game. Maybe it was just because it was so loud I didn't want him to say any more than he absolutely had to.
statmanhensley
I'm never going to say that I can call a good basketball game, but I can't stand an announcer that thinks they have to give the play-by-play like a TV/radio announcer does. Can get annoying very quickly. The guy at Bracken Co. is very good.
statmanhensley
Sorry to toot my alma mater's horn but the guy at Rockcastle County is good. My favorite from any school that I have ever visited while I was at Rockcastle County would have to be the guy from Corbin High School. He has a true PA Announcer's voice. The Professor
Our guy at Owsley County, Jamie Brunk, does a great job as a PA man in my opinion, from his opening "Welcome to beautiful downtown Booneville!!!', to his "God bless and have a safe trip home." Jamie has been the Owls' PA since the early 1990s..... and, he sings the national anthem, too.:thumb:

buttels
I do agree about David Morris. Not overbearing at all. He also does the 8th Region Boys Tournament at Henry County (At least last year). Requested by Coach Gilley. The other folks at Gallatin do a great job also!!!!:thumb:
1734
Gentleman at Grant Co. does a good job. His name slips me at the time. Mr. Morris is pretty good also. Wish I could say the same about his son... (he does a nice job also).

Augger
The beginning goes Welcome to basketball in Booooooonevilllllle!!! And he is one of the best I have heard. You know it is game time when Jamie Brunk and the fans (often for both teams) say Basketball in Booneville.
