I am not sure how many high school's there are in ky, but 154 have reported their stats to khsaa.

I just read the khsaa stat leader's and saw that Jonathan Ferguson of

Elliott Co is leading the state in scoring at 28 pts per game. Elliott's team is also leading at 87.6 pts per game.

"WOW" that is really an outstanding accomplishment for a young man and team from such a small school. Proves that the big schools aren"t the only ones that can "CHURN" out players and teams that can produce excellent stats and records. Congratulations to the Ferguson kid and the entire Elliott team.

Doesn't anyone else realize that most of the players and teams who lead the scoring category are teams that don't play much good competition? I am in no way trying to discredit these teams or players, because, who knows, maybe they would score a lot against a tougher schedule also. But, I'm just saying that scoring a lot of points isn't always a good representation of how good a player/team is.

Then in the years past when the bigger schools had players and teams that were the leading scorers in the state they did it because they were playing weak teams!! And yes from reading your post you were trying to discredit the player and team. My comments arise more out of a desire to have that kind of comprehensive statistics available to me. It would be great to see what everyone does.

 

There may not be another player hitting at a 28 ppg. clip, but I know there are more than 23 players across Kentucky averaging 20+ ppg.
