I predict Greenup will beat Russell by 8 in the first round and Raceland will beat Lewis County by 15. Raceland will then will the District to meet up with East Carter in their first game of the Region.

Russell beats Greenup again on their floor by 3. Lewis in the upset by 6 over Raceland.:bunny:

Barney, your bullet may be a blank!

Bad draw for Lewis, but could end up being even worse for Raceland. Hard to believe Russell or Greenup will be in regionals after the year they have had. Lets please seed the teams from now on.

Wouldn't there have to be 2 teams that voted against it?

I was only responding to lewiscoref being upset that #3 or #4 will go to the region this year. Russell & Greenup ALWAYS vote to seed. Had Lewis voted to last year that would have meant 3 of 4 voted for it and that would have been enough. They could have looked forward to meeting Russell or Greenup this year instead of the district favorite.

You can't complain about a #3 or #4 definitely making the region the year you are a #1 or #2 when you had the power to keep that from happening. Certainly it is not a stretch for a #3 to beat a #2 if the district is seeded but it lessons #4's chance of making it when they play #1 in the first round. #4 may be able to beat #3 in a draw but should not beat #1.

Again, this is all water under the bridge because we seed from now on. Can't imagine that will ever change as long as there are only 4 teams in this district and Greenup and Russell are in it. :thumb:

I'm not sure why Russell would be so eager to seed unless they just feel it is the right thing to do.

Lewis had their opportunity to vote for the seed last year and declined. This won't be an issue starting next year.

I didnt realize Lewis Co. could have had that much power. Who is it that votes, the coaches or the A.D.?

Each school has a designated voting rep.

You hit the nail on the head. Someone made a statement on another thread stating they bet Russell is glad they did not seed this year because of the season they are having. I said then that Russell still voted to seed last year knowing that this year would be a "rebuilding year". They knew with everyone that the other teams in the district had returning that they would not be a favorite and probably a #3 or #4.

Seeding generally creates the best matchups for the region tourney & it makes the regular season mean more.

Each of the participating schools gets 1 vote. It takes a majority for something to pass. In years past Russell & Greenup voted to seed and Raceland & Lewis (Fairview before they moved to to 64th) voted against it. Always ended 2 - 2. Had Lewis voted yes it would have been 3 - 1 and it would have passed.

Finally, we did get seeding passed this year.

I think seeding is right for the most part, but there are always exceptions.

Tough draw for the Rams, the two best in the district matching up in the first round.

Raceland just needs to stay focused on the task at hand no matter who the opponet is. I believe that Coach Floyd will have them ready for the "always district tough" Lions

Reardless of a blind draw or seeding the bottom line is that no matter who you play, a team has to show up focused and not overlooking anyone everytime out.

Would I had rather played Russell in the 1st round? Yes.

Does that mean that if that were the case that Raceland could just go out and "go through the motions" vs. a weaker team and advance? No.

The Ramblers should advance but that does not mean there are any automatics for anyone at anytime.

Regardless they will have to stay focused and play hard.

One example of this would be that one year in the late 70's (77 or 78 I beleive). Raceland and Russell drew out in the 1st round of the 63rd district. Had they have seeded this is how it would have worked out I believe.

Marv Meridith had a pretty good Russell team and Raceland had only won maybe a handful of games that season.

Raceland beat Russell at Russell and knocked them out of the tournament and out of advancing to the Regional.

Again, regardless of who you play there are no "cakewalks". Any team can be beaten and you have to "bring it" everytime out.

Raceland and Lewis County have nobody to blame but themselves. Reap what you sew.

You wish spindoc. No blanks last week when they beat Greenup at their place. It may be a little tarnished but for sure not a blank.:creepy:

The "Texas Death Match" is on.;)

:confused:You really think that Raceland could have a "bad" draw this season. Russell and Greenup Co. should be tickled to death that one of them teams will be in Morehead. You can say what you want but the draw has helped Raceland several times and it has hurt us several times. Seeding will do the same. Yes it would help the Rams this year, but what about next? In high school sports you never know when your down years come a good draw could put you in the region. That generally doesn't happen with seeding.
