They might have played hard for him but I didn't see any improvements with the team.

 

So how long should you keep a coach becuase your kids play hard? If they are not showing signs of getting better then something has to change. Now most of that my be talent related. But you can't fire the kids.

In Kentucky, superindendents have hiring/firing authority. Each school should have a policy on hiring and usually there is a selection committee. The principal has the final notice of what name he/she sends to the superintendent for hire.

 

So really principals have the authority on who to hire. I guess the AD would hire or fire if they were also the principal.

 

Wonder what you would do if your principal were the AD and football coach. Talk about job security.

Tenured employees are protected by a continuing contract, unless they have violated a law or have been negligent in their duties.

Josh Slone had 254 total yards the first game. The next game he touched it 3 times. The two best recievers, Ogden and Howard didn't even play offense this past year. Howard was the fastest kid on the team and was a RB and WR 3 previous years. When an assistant coach has to throw the ball to simulate a kickoff instead of a player kicking it its coaching problems. Owen Co. never had a PAT or FG all year. Don't you think a coach would have maybe practiced kicking once in a while, in stead of a coach throwing the ball for a kickoff? I've talked to at least 4 College Coaches about Owen Co. players playing for them but they couldn't contact them because our Head Coach wouldn't answer an E-Mail or return a phone call to them. How many kids on Owen's team could have a chance to play at the next level if only their coach would cooperate? Howard, Ogden, Slone, Kelly, Stafford and Snyder to name a few. Don't say that their wasn't any talent there. They were not coached very well. My son has 4 Colleges interested in him playing football. When they ask him for his stats or what awards he has recieved, he has to answer :Our coach didn't give out any stats or awards. Good thing for game film.

However, the Owen county team that I seen in seven on sevens, and on film, was a team that didn't have very much speed. I am not saying that they couldn't have been competative in their schedule, I am just saying that their talent pool wasn't extravigant. It takes an extremely talented football team to be able to say that a lack of talent has nothing to do with a lack of sucess.

The 7 on 7 team were not any of the kids that I mentioned. Most of them were playing summer baseball. The players he had on offense did not have any speed except for #20 Harris. Him and #22 Howard are as fast as anyone any where period. I don't know their 40 times but #1 Ogden ran a 6.7 60 yd last summer which is fast for baseball. Harris and Howard are faster than him. They just were not utilized correctly.

I agree with all you said except the coach part. Obviously football knowledge is not required to coach at Owen. It's filling the teaching position thats more important.
