Wow, after reading all of the things in this thread, I think coach Schlarman might just want to have the Birds stay home for fear of getting run out of the gym. This game will be in the single digits either way.

 

Nobody is really predicting a blow out here. Coming off an 11point loss to Conner, WITH McGraw in the lineup doesn't really give many a reason to think Highlands will pull it out though. They will definetly keep it close though. Their style of play both offensively and defensively won't allow for them to get blown out.

I agree Eta Rho. I didn't see anything negative posted by Birds fans about this game.

While I do respect your analysis of the game I dont think it will be a double digit loss for the Birds on their home floor. I think it will be a low scoring affair and the Birds will pull it out by a duece. McGraw wont have to score 20 in this one but the Birds will have to handle the pressure.

I would say there's a better chance of a Holmes double digit win than a Highlands win.

They get STein in the lineup and Simpson back for REgional tourney time and they add another scoring threat and a bruiser down low. A much needed bruiser on the block.

Just what they need...ANOTHER football player! (lol). Luke would give them some inside "toughness" and SR leadership in the paint. He's signed with Gardner-Webb for FB...or at least intends to sign with them! Would be a great addition to the Bird bench for the tourney run!:thumb:

If Highlands can handle the full court presure the whole game, it will be a low scoring game, simply because they don't take quick shots at the other end. If they don't handle the pressure though, it will get out of hand. Something everyone has to realize is Holmes is going to put a good 10-15 point run on you. They have done it in almost every game this year. The key is whether or not Highlands can counter with a run of their own. If not, well then it will be long night for the Birds.

 

But if McGraw doesn't score 20, where will their scoring come from? He and Kowolonek are the two main guys. One of the two are going to have to escalate their game to another level.

As much as I'd like to see Holmes pull off a comfortable win like that, it's just not going to happen. This game won't be a blow out. Defensively Highlands is very tough and offensively they like to slow it down and get good shots. Especially against Holmes, they are going to try to do everything they can to take away Holmes atleticism advatantage.

 

On the other hand, if Highlands can't handle the Dawgs full court pressure, as I stated before, Holmes will put a run on them and before they know it be down double digits and trying to find a way to keep it respectable.

I'll take Luke Stein and his biceps over Mr. Mace from Dixie when it comes to throwing muscle around. Stein is more agile and "protects" with more fervor. Holmes should get the victory...but it won't be "easy". Stein probably won't even be ready.

I think this game will be closer than most people expect. McGraw and Henderson will have their hands full with one another. I look for this game to be decided by the other 8 on the floor. I'll take Holmes by 5 as the Bluebird faithful keep their team in the game until the very end.

Should be interesting to see if the Birds come out in a sticky man to man. With all that athleticism on Holmes' squad I think your asking a lot if you expect to man up the whole game. Willie will need to mix in some zone and make the Dogs shoot the rock from the perimeter, get a butt on Arrez wherever he is and take care of the ball each possession.
