I think this game will be closer than most people expect. McGraw and Henderson will have their hands full with one another. I look for this game to be decided by the other 8 on the floor. I'll take Holmes by 5 as the Bluebird faithful keep their team in the game until the very end.

 

 

Very good assessment. If the game is taken out of Mcgraw and Henderson's hands though, Holmes has the better supporting cast and is a lot deeper than Highlands.

Should be interesting to see if the Birds come out in a sticky man to man. With all that athleticism on Holmes' squad I think your asking a lot if you expect to man up the whole game. Willie will need to mix in some zone and make the Dogs shoot the rock from the perimeter, get a butt on Arrez wherever he is and take care of the ball each possession.

 

If Willie is smart he'll switch things up. If I'm a coach preparing to play Holmes, I much rather them beat me with jumpers and 3 pointers than drives in the lane and easy dishes for lay ups which Holmes has gotten a lot of their success from this year.

To me, the Birds are very dangerous in this game. They knew Holmes would be the 'best' in the 9th before the season even started. They have been looking forward to this game all season. This game is athleticism (Holmes) vs. fundamentals (Highlands). Holmes has a very skilled team who can score all over you, and Highlands plays solid offense and defense with a few average players. This is always a great game, and should continue to be one this season. If McGraw plays (which I highly assume he will) this game will be a pretty close one. Even though I don't think the birds will pull this one out, they should keep it within 10 (which is more than a bunch of other teams can say so far).

Not too sure the game will be broadcast. I'd check today's paper and look though in the sports section as whats on the radio today.

 

If you are going to go to the game though, get there early. The last time Holmes played at Highlands 2 years ago, Holmes students were there at 4:30 and the gym was full by the start of the JV game. By the time varsity game started there was standing room only.

You can have all the muscle in the world, ask Luke from Dixie! Dawgs were striping him with no problem. Dawgs will have no problem. I have Holmes by15+, easy!!!

Birds may want to see what the Bulldogs can do from the charity stripe, although they may run out of players because of all the fouls. McGraw is built like a Strong Safety. Very strong and can leap very high. Not as high as Arrez but they are very similar in stature. Should be a good matchup.

They got Arrez listed at 5'11" and I agree, I am 6'1" and he is every bit as tall as I am. Little side note, besides his jumping ability he has long arms. Very strong upper body, calves as big as sugar melons. Dhould be a good match up.
