A Little Windy Out There...

Here was the sequence of events:

- I was posting on BGP

- A tornado warning came on the tv for Eastern Boyle County

- As I was typing in weather.com, my electricity went out

- I heard the sirens downtown indicating an emergency

- Then, I heard very forceful wind which was so loud and powerful that it was just scary

- I ran upstairs, grabbed the kids and made a dash for the car

- Evacuated to my place of work, which is about 1/4 mile down the road

We were without electricity for about an hour or so. Lots of garbage cans, mailboxes, tree limbs, etc. blown all over this part of Danville. All is well now, except for the 50 mph gusts of win every few minutes...

Wow, thats pretty crazy.

Last night around 9:00 p.m. a trash can come a flying and hit the side of my car door. Yes big dent and no one to blame. This morning went to the gym around 5:00 a.m. and garbage cans and litter all over town. I had all kinds of things in my back yard against the privacy fence so it looks like a clean up for me sometime this weekend. I hope everyone is ok and survived this storm. JD

Power went off at my house around 11:30pm.... 2 hours after the storm started. By 5:30am, power was still out, house was freezing cold, and 5 or 6 loud trucks are idling in the road. Come to find out there were 5 or 6 LG&E and Asplundh trucks, each with 1 or 2 people inside them sleeping!!! They were waiting on a new power pole (to replace the one that snapped), so a total of 10 workers were snoozing while they waited! I can't gripe too much, as they all had a very long night or work. I wouldn't want to be outside working in those conditions!

Power just came on, finally! Been out since 9 last night! Having withdrawls from BGP!

I wanted to tie my girlfriends little yapper yorky to a kite and see if I could hear it bark when that thing was about a 100 ft. up. She obviously didn't let me. Crazy weather, wish it would stop dog is going nuts!

:laugh: Women ain't got no sense of humor, do they.....

The wind last night here in Raceland/Worthington was horrible. Our trash cans are maybe a street over or so and it picked up the cover off of our grill and I have yet to see or find it. We live close to the Ohio River so you guys in NKY and the Cincy are may see it coming down the river in a while. :D

We were without power for I guess about an hour. When it came back on, my TV, which was set to play a DVD that was in a the time, won't pick up any stations. I don't have cable, so I know it's not that. Oh well, I guess I'll be watching a lot of movies!

It looks so much worse this morning. Looks like we need a new roof...shingles are off of the house. I can't tell you how much damage is here....our neighbors bricks from their chimney are in our yard. We have street signs in our yard....need new fence and storage building....oh, my, the insurance company is going to love us!!! LOL....

Do you have an outside antenna?

Wouldn't you know that some moron would choose last night to either dump a carload of cans out in front of our house or to leave there recyclables out. They ended up scattered over at least three yards--front and back. The clean-up so far has talleyed 37 cans. And there are more in the backyard next store.

High winds blew railroad cars off the tracks. I'm stuck in Northern Kentucky due to Power lines down and effecting signals for the railroad.

Sounds like you'll be workin' on the railroad...all the livelong day.

My grandpa was a railroad man for the B&O.

^^Cool I run out of Queensgate and know some B&O people. I'm L&N. What did he do for them? Or maybe I should start a Railroad thread.
