Lucky Charms Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 I wanted to tie my girlfriends little yapper yorky to a kite and see if I could hear it bark when that thing was about a 100 ft. up. She obviously didn't let me. Crazy weather, wish it would stop dog is going nuts!
HOMELESS CAMEL Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008  Yeah, tonight is trashcan night here in Maysville, but we made sure to have ours in the garage and just take them out before the trash people get here in the morning. 50 MPH wind gusts is tropical storm conditions in Florida. :scared: Be safe everyone!
PurpleHaze Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Well, the local news is saying that we did not get a tornado, we just got 60 mph winds...bull...and all of our neighbors are saying the same thing. I was in the kitchen and all of a sudden the wind came up and I heard the "train" sound and it looked like our kitchen window was going to go...I came running in the living room and the door slammed open and almost hit PH in the head...the screen door came off and came flying into the living room and almost hit us both in the head...I got PH and myself in the hall. When it died down, I went outside to see the damage....our columns in the front are all down, trash can and swing and grill blown over, trees half down...split in half. Trees on neighbors cars...thiers came all the way down....we have gutters hanging in our trees....I am afraid they are going to come down on our heads...we don't know who they belong to yet. The neighbors huge, old fashioned TV antenna is wraped around her house....bricks are off of her house. We have boxes and trash in front of our house and garage where we can't get into it. We have trash and boxes all along our back fence....there were sparks coming out of a tree across the street....sirens all over (God bless them and keep them safe...) It looks like a war zone out here. Five of our neighbors came over and they said the heard the "train" sound also and one said that he saw a mini tornado. I hope everyone of our BGP family is alright....be safe.
HOMELESS CAMEL Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 My goodness, I'm glad you two are okay, hopefully everyone in the neighborhood is okay as well.
PurpleHaze Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Thank you...it seems like mostly was property damage. The guys were going from house to house to make sure everyone was alright.
threetimelover Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 It was pretty rough here in Hopkinsville. Half the town lost power and lots of trees are down. Also, some skylights were blown out at the mall and supposedly some people were slightly injured. I guess its a good thing no one goes to the local mall!
Wireman Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 I had to evacuate with a 3-year old under one arm and a 10-month old under the other. I can't wait to get moved in a new house - this apartment business is for the birds...

It is bad around here. Neighbors' upscale wooden playground would have been blown over again, except they haven't righted it after the last windstorm we had earlier this month.:sssh: Expect to see lots of displaced garbage cans in the morning.

Wireman Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Good grief! Evacuated to where, and for how long? Here was the sequence of events: - I was posting on BGP - A tornado warning came on the tv for Eastern Boyle County - As I was typing in weather.com, my electricity went out - I heard the sirens downtown indicating an emergency - Then, I heard very forceful wind which was so loud and powerful that it was just scary - I ran upstairs, grabbed the kids and made a dash for the car - Evacuated to my place of work, which is about 1/4 mile down the road We were without electricity for about an hour or so. Lots of garbage cans, mailboxes, tree limbs, etc. blown all over this part of Danville. All is well now, except for the 50 mph gusts of win every few minutes...
Incognito Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 The wind and rain has just begun in Boyd County. An Emergency statement is coming over the tv right now. And my husband's fire pager is beginning to sound! This one could be a doozie!

Glad you're ok; and that you had somewhere nearby. Who expects a tornado in January? Crazy weather.
SomersetFootball Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 I watched a trash can fly through a car wash parking lot and almost drill a parked car.
Wireman Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Glad you're ok; and that you had somewhere nearby. Who expects a tornado in January? Crazy weather. I don't think it actually came a tornado, but I try not to take many chances when the kids are involved. I figure its better to be safe than sorry. Hope everyone else out there is ok and has no property damage.
shamrock fan Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 It's raining now and the temperature has dropped about 15 degrees in the last hour. Still windy, but I'm now worrying about ice....
