McCain......too much like a democrat?

Featured Replies

This is about as far from reality as humanly possible.

McCain is nothing like Hillary. And he certainly isn't dishonest. It's just that some far right-wing conservatives think that every Republican candidate has to be just to the right of Stalin to be worthwhile.

As I pointed out in another thread/post, Did you have the same reservations about Reagan and George Bush 1?

I was 14. What do you think?

I was more concerned with what a certain little girl wore to school that day than the presidency.

Me too and McCain may not appoint another Roberts, but I can assure you that Hillary and Obama will not. To me McCain is the right man for the job at this point in our Country's history with the threats facing us. To the far right Republicans, he will be the lesser of two evils. I don't care if they hold their noses when they vote, but they need to vote for McCain.

I am wondering if it does not need to be someone along the lines of a Dick Cheney that was not running for Presidency and will have a strong, strong, strong, conservative record.
You may be on to something there. Get a good man in the White House and still throw a bone to the far right base.
I'm a coservative guy, and because of those values I have a hard time supporting McCain. However, conservatives as a group need to realize that the next President will more than likely appoint 2-3 Supreme Court Justices. And I think I speak for every conservative when I say that I would MUCH rather John McCain appoint people to those positions than Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama.
There is no guarantee that McCain would appoint conservative judges, particularly with a Democratic majority in the US Senate. A conservative Supreme Court would most likely strike down McCain-Feingold on the basis of its infringement upon the First Amendment. McCain is on record as saying that he would probably "draw the line" at appointing a conservative like Sam Alito to the court. (He is also on record as saying that Hillary would make a good president.)
As a Democrat, I am ecstatic.Republicans will be praying that Hillary can be stymied in November and their great hope... their savior...their only option is John McCain. That is hilarious.Republicans, will get behind your hero,McCain? Will you vote at all? Are you hoping the rapture comes sooner than later? I love it.

Do you think the glee of you and your ilk is matched by the sheer pleasure Republicans have watching the ferocity with which Hillary's party has turned upon her and her husband, deserting them with reckless abandon? We could write a short story and call it "They Eat Their Own."

FYI, Stalin, along with most other Communists is consider to be on the far left of the political spectrum. To be on the right of Stalin is to be grouped with 99%+ of the American electorate.

It is fine with me if you want to label me as a "far right" conservative, but I fall within a large group of Republicans - a large enough constituency to make or break a candidate in the general election. If the Republican Party wants to alienate its own conservative base by running a RINO this fall, then they will deserve the landslide loss that will result. Given a choice between a real Democrat and McCain, the media will finally begin giving McCain the type of scrutiny that he deserves. Come back in a few months and tell me again about Honest John McCain.

For what it's worth Stalin was actually far left, or you could ignore this post because I didn't actually look at the rest of the thread and I am not just rambling in an excessive runon sentence just because I feel like typing it and for some reason it just draws me in an wants me to keep typing I can't stop....

I was waiting for that.

...and that. :p

The point I was trying to make is that he, and other dictitorial types, are hard-liners and far from the middle where all of us normal people live. ;)

To say McCain is too much like a Democrat is being waaaay too kind. McCain is way too much like Hillary for comfort. As dishonest as the day is long. If McCain wins the nomination, Republican turnout will be very light in November.

Though not a McCain supporter myself, I find the bolded to be false and unfair. I challenge you to find evidence to support it, or ask that you retract it.

Left or right of Hilary?

Left or right of Hilary?

As left as we look at Hilary, Stalin was dramatically more so. Communism is just about as far left as you can get.

Hillary would prefer that you tell her where you want her to be on the political spectrum so she can remake herself to your personal preferences.

She's left of me no doubt, but I still would think comparing her to Stalin is a bit much.:thumb:

Then again, anyone who doesn't believe in liberal application of landmines to solve border problems, international problems, and domestic disputes is more left than I am.
