McCain......too much like a democrat?

Featured Replies

I will do so in a separate thread this evening. Exhibit 1 will be the demonstrably false accusations that McCain made against Romney over the weekend, in which he accused Romney of supporting "timetables for withdrawal" just like the Democrats. Romney's position was exactly the opposite of what McCain claimed. Even the AP concluded that McCain's accusation was unfair and misleading.

He said Romney supports a timetable. Romney did say that. He said it should be a private timetable, but a timetable nevertheless.

Can you identify something you consider to be a conservative truth (not as issue) that you would not compromise?
This isn't about me. It's about John McCain.

This is precisely why BF would need me as his secretary of defense.

Ok, you can be on the squirrelly side of defense and I'll stay on this side.

I drove by BF's house and they were installing these in the yard. I think they're called Squirell Suppressors.

Well to bring it full circle, does McCain remind anyone else of a squirell?

Hey ain't it the time of the year that they are storing nuts. They were just trying to determine if they could get you in a tree.:lol::lol:

I wouldn't doubt it.

This thread once again demonstrates what I truly love about this site: we may differ (sometimes strongly) on issues but we don't get so upset with one another that we can't let a little levity work its way into the discussion. And that's a good thing.

And Hearsay, to respond to your last post to me, I truly understand and appreciate your point. Every time I compromise, I wonder/worry about whether I am sacrificing my principles for the sake of trying to find agreement with the other side. I can fully understand that some people believe so strongly about a matter that compromise is impossible ( I think abortion here). Then again, there are plenty of other things that I think are suitable for compromise. I don't believe in the progressive income tax. Its abhorrible to me. Then again, I appreciate the argument from the other side. And I compromise and accept a progressive income tax as long as they don't tax the wealthy too steeply.

We all make compromises every day. Very few things are black and white. If I refused to compromise in my law practice, very few of the corporate transactions that I work on would ever close. If you didn't accept compromise, you'd probably not enter into many plea bargains even when you thought your client was not guilty. You accepted the best deal you could get for your client so he/she would not have to face worse possibilities. That's compromise.

This thread once again demonstrates what I truly love about this site:

And I thought you were going to say we're all a little squirelly.

As much as I may rail against McCain, I can't see myself voting for either Democrat even if McCain is the GOP candidate. And I'll not waste another Perot vote. Now is not the time to protest.
