Viper
AS I said in an earlier thread after these 2 schools played to overtime the 1st time they met I would have thought this would have been another close game. Did Ludlow have anyone unable to play for this one or was it just a bad night for the Panthers? Congrats to Villa and Good luck the rest of the way.. Ludlow had two players, one starter and 6th man, not play the first half and only a handful of minutes in 2nd half.
futurecoach
It is my opinion that the people of Ludlow aren't happy unless they are watching Knothole baseball, riding their motorcycles, or trying to run coaches out of town. The fact of the matter is your boy's team had success with outstanding talent several years ago, but other schools have gotten better talent and your talent has dropped off. Get off of your horse, motorcycle, school board seat and the bleachers and get behind the programs. This has gone on way to long. :thumb: I think its funny that Ludlow's coach was one of the best in the region two/three years ago but now we're insinuating that he may be the problem down there. I think Coach Highfield is doing a great job with what he's got. Cory Highfield is NOT the problem....they have the same issues that all smaller schools have....Dayton, Bellevue, etc. low numbers, sporadic talent years, attitudes, and parents/fans who think they are coaches instead of fans. :irked: Wrong. Just a good observer / listener of the things that go on. Rabbit ears? Maybe. Insider? Incredibly far from the truth. Far as in from the earth to the moon. Maybe you should be more careful to not allow others in on your identity...:sssh: Wow I apparently have missed a lot. I figured this thread would have been dead by now. With some of your all's comments on here, I really need to be careful with the words I choose here to make sure I don't get into trouble... So to start off MACLA you really need to know what you are talking about more, before you start to say stuff about a whole city. And as for the city always trying to run off coaches, a lot of that has to do with Ludlow usually always staying in the little circle of things when they hire a coach, instead of going out and getting a guy who could be better for the job. So a lot of times the city has a legit reason for why they want coaches gone sometimes. If you look at things, its usually when Ludlow hires from within, when the programs start to not do as well, because they didn't actually hire the best candidate for the job. When they have gone outside of the circle, things have worked out really nicely. I mean sometimes the best coach really could be a person inside the Ludlow circle, and then that is not a problem at all. However to many times that person has not been the best person... Now for you BigBlue what are you talking about? No one ever mentioned Highfield as one of the best coaches in the region. I mean I think this is actually his first varsity head coaching job and only has been doing it for 3 years... Now for no excuses. You can look up at the paragraph I had written to MACLA...However I do agree with a little bit of what you said. Schools like Ludlow, Bellevue, Dayton, etc usually go through cycles and have small numbers. And as for the reason why this years team is struggling for the second year in a row, I dont have a definite reason for it. As I said in a earlier post in this thread it probably has to do with many reasons. I mean this team actually does have talent on, and A LOT of athletic kids. So they should be better than what they have been the last two years. I mean one of the problems is that maybe these guys don't play as a complete team, they could have some selfish individuals on the team. Also coaching also could be a little problem with it as well. I not going to put the blame on just one thing, because I believe there is a lot of reasons for it. However whatever the reason is, the basketball team for the last two years have definitely not lived up to the normal Ludlow standards...

I remember hearing rumblings about what a good coach Highfield was his first year when Pennick (sp) and company were around and there didn't seem to be as much knocking on the coach down at Ludlow. And the rumblings probably weren't about the best in the region but for DIII schools. I could be mistaken but I just found that funny.

I know a lot of people felt like that team with Penick his senior year should have been a lot better than what it was. The thing people talked about most that year was how Penick floated around way to much on the outside that year, and should have been down low all game long because he would have dominated. pastmyprime
Penick should have gotten 30 pts a game if his butt was on the block. Instead, he had his own "And 1" tour throwing passes behind his back.

Viper
Who were these two players Viper? PG Grant Logan (the 6th man that in my opinion should be starting.) He is a game changer. Ludlow plays at a higher pace and seems to have more energy when he is on the floor. As well as SG Tyler Trammel (former starter) who is a good three point shooter and is also very quick. These two did not play for a reason that i am unaware of something like missing a shootaround or something. But from what i heard they served there punishment the day before by running a lot of sprints. So, is the coach right to sit them out virtually the whole game in a tournament when they've served there punishment? You make the call.

Yes I agree, especially when they had done served there punishment. Sounds to me like he holds a grudge because both haven't started all year until recently, and now he sits them out in i'm guessing the All "A"? Not smart! :irked:

Highfield didn't even go above 500 on the year and didn't win the confrence or the dictrict, with a 6'9" D-1 talented prospect, a 6'8" possible D-2 player, and one of the best shooters in the region by far, and Rouse and Logan brought speed and more shooting to the table. And you say he was getting rumbles on good coaching, trust me, I'm down here and he got no such compliments. That should have been a great year for those young men, and instead they go under 500. However, they did get into the region, that's a plus. :thumb:

I love the comment above about Penick's "And 1" Tour. That is funny. He was fun to watch though for a big. But he should have been posting like cereal all night long. NDIrish03
Who are you referring to here? Justin Hardin. In my opinion was the most affective player that year, even though everyone was trying to stop Pennick and King. Hardin step up, and he finished with I believe the third best shot percentage in the state.
