He said a chance to compete for a state championship is only part of the reason the job is attractive.

 

Sounds like he's running from 5A.

Because Lexington Catholic and Bell Co are so weak!! Come on now, of the semi finalist in the 5a this year, French did by far the most with a school that offers the program the least.

According to the article, French will be waiting until Wednesday morning to announce his intentions. He wants to meet with his kids at Lincoln County first. It looks like his intentions are leaning Boyle's way but I'm one of those to say, "let's wait and see."

No one said LC and BC are weak, but compared to the Top 3-5 in 5A....well, on the surface, it appears to be an easier road to take by going to a 4A school.

I will agree with that. I just wouldn't say it is because he is "running" from 5A. You have to realize he was in 4A with Meade County a long time, so I wouldn't say he is running from anything.

Coach French is a solid football coach and i dont think he is running from anything. Sounds like LIncoln County needs to step up and try to make the job on par with Boyle Co. as far as assistant coaches pay and facilitys.

I don't think its so much running from 5A, but rather its going to a program that, at least to French, may be more set up to compete for a state championship. And I don't mean that in a disrespectful way to Lincoln. I just sense from some comments that French has made, that he has some issues/concerns/problems with the committment level at Lincoln. Not sure if its a money thing (wasn't there some talk that he was unsuccessful in getting more money for his assistants?), a facility thing or whatever. My guess is that the Boyle folks, so eager to get things going in the right direction, are telling him they'll give him what he needs (within reason of course) to compete for a championship. He knows since its been done there before, it can happen again.
