How the heck did you get game scores for every single game?! :eek: I've got them through 1992, but I didn't know anyone had been keeping them since then.

When I was in the process of creating the website, I was given a binder full of all sorts of information about HHS football, including every year's game results. I have typed them all in, and and just doing the proof-reading before posting them on the site. Also, if you take a look at the all-time wins lists on the contents page, you can see where HHS stacks up in the state and nationally with respect to wins. Go 'Birds!

I found it interesting that Highlands had Dayton on their schedule all through the 70's and a couple years in the 80's. I wonder why they didnt schedule Belllevue during the late 70's, early 80's. I think Bellevue could have taken them a couple years in there with the Sutkamps.

 

With that said, it was kind of cool to see that in 1965 the Tigers beat the Birds. That was my Dad's Sr. yr at Bellevue and Mom's at Highlands. I am sure there was some smack going on in the car at the drive up Frisches that year.

Hey DMZ, our senior year is still in first place (tied with the 1970 team) for the most shutouts by a Highlands defense (since 1959 at least. I didn't check before then). Admittedly, given the impact of the high scoring, spread offenses these days, shut outs are much harder to get than back in the days when a diverse offense meant anything other than the power I.:banana:

The greatest defensive team ever was probably the 1928 team. In eight games, they outscored the opposition 261-10. And the defense gave up not a single one of those points. Four of the ten points were scored on safeties. Six more came in one game on a blocked punt. It was the one game they lost (6-0).

That is impressive. I thought we had a pretty good defense (of the points scored against us, I think only Dixie's 7 and Campbell County's 20 were scored against the starters) but giving up zero points on defense is very strong. Oh well, at least we're tied for first with 8 shut outs.

70' team was pretty tough. Only gave up 2 td's in a game three times and had 8 shut out's.
